Plans Underway to Limit Cell Phone Use at His Majesty’s Prison
Efforts to curb illegal cell phone use by inmates at His Majesty’s Prison are gaining momentum, with the introduction of cell phone jammers expected in the coming weeks.
Prison Superintendent, Lieutenant Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather, confirmed that the jammers will be operational soon, as part of ongoing measures to enhance security within the facility.
“We have made a new plan, and it’s well underway. I would think that within another two weeks or so, given the materials required are provided, the jammers will be in place, certainly no more than three weeks,” Pennyfeather stated.
Previous attempts to use jammers had encountered setbacks due to creative interference from inmates, who found ways to disrupt the system. However, with the revised plan, officials are confident this method will now be effective in eliminating unauthorized cell phone communication.
This move forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen prison security and prevent inmates from using contraband devices to continue criminal activity from behind bars.

I’m all for this initiative, however I’m curious about the range and how it will affect citizens who are passing on the nearby roads. Jammers have a range and we don’t exactly have large spaces between buildings in St. John’s. It’s important to remember that cell phones are emergency devices and central to communication. I think a better approach would be to provide pay phones that the inmates can use and bolster security to weed out the cell phones. Inmates should have a way to contact their families. Another point to consider is that moving the prison from town is long overdue. Let’s focus on better solutions and proper punishment for infractions.
the idea of getting the jammers have both advantage and disadvantages
disadvantage is that the prison can now hide all injustice that is being done to inmates at the prison.
I disagree, with the use of cell phone jammer, because cell phone jammers doesn’t discriminate. They will affect both phone in the prison as well as phone outside and the surrounding areas of the prison. Some cell phone jammer has the potential to jam signals up to 1/4 mile. Extract from the Israeli government.
it’s ok we can still jam one another with the Diddy oil especially for all them new boys coming to join us 😏 are you better stay away from up here
That’s y them man don’t care to go jail.still,eating.,phones, sex , rent free.food free… why NOT..
I am still puzzled that within a population of one hundred thousand people, we still cannot find a few persons that are incorruptible and capable of working at the prisons and doing their jobs without being induced and bribed into taking phones and other things to prisoners for benefit. That we still have these issues with phones and drugs getting into the prison environment is a testimony to the quality of officers that we have at the penal institution. Phones are one thing, but the prison is being flooded with knives and other sharp objects, drugs and more. Address the problem properly!
They did that in the past and it affected cell phone users all the way up by the Credit Union and they had to turn shut it down. Unless it is some low powered antennas it will affect cell phone users outside the walls of the prison
It’s going fail again….Just watch…..
Me rsss a now dem go krazy in deh
Just search up the cell dem regular but how when a di officer them a supply dem lol

I know Antigua is known as Paradise, but that certainly doesn’t mean that we are ALL Saints. Yes believe it or not we all have sinned and fall short to the Glory of God.
So I wonder why you are puzzled. Is there a ratio that should be maintained. Like one in every hundred people should be a saint. I guess when Lot was pleading to God not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, God told him if he could find 10 righteous persons he would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. But Lot wasn’t able to find even ten. So too I don’t think you can find your ten incorruptible people to work at the prison. But strange that you think this is only in Antigua. Many movies have been made about corrupt prison administrators. And how prisoners are getting certain privileges in prison. We have seen many prison outbreaks all over the world. I guess you have seen the movie Alcatraz. But have you seen the movie Papillon. I mean if you want to know about corrupt prison officers and administration, you need not to pick on our little beautiful Island State and the people which we so love.
The LOVE of Money has been called the root of all evil ever since. Perhaps you need to be remembered that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was betrayed by his own disciple Judas for thirty silver pieces. Must have been a lot of money in those days.
Take your Jab on other people in the future.
