Celebrity Silhouette arrives at Antigua cruise port

Celebrity Silhouette is the first ship seen in Antigua’s port since the cruise season came to an abrupt halt last April.

Most people never have the opportunity to see a shark up close, let alone photograph one. Jimmy John Shark photo highlights the delicate balance between humans and nature.

The ship is covered in ash from La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent.

The ship was previously anchored in Barbados when ash from La Soufriere began to spread across parts of Barbados forcing the vessel to port in Antigua.

Two other ships are expected to port here in the coming days.

As a result of the current situation in St. Vincent with regards to the recurrent eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano, three Celebrity Cruise vessels will be calling on Antigua from over the weekend.

Clearance was granted by the Antigua Port Authority to have the Celebrity Silhouette dock at Heritage Quay from Saturday 17th to Monday 19th April 2021 and the Celebrity Edge from Sunday 18th to Tuesday 20th April 2021. The Celebrity Reflection will dock on Wednesday 21st April 2021.

There will be no crew shore leave whatsoever granted to the crew arriving on the said vessels, however a limited number of crew and contractors will join the ship here in Antigua to conduct minor maintenance work. Upon boarding these vessels, this crew as well will not be granted any shore leave.

The cruise line is currently working with their local agent Bryson’s Shipping on local logistics as well as all other formalities with the Port and other Authorities.
