The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has authorized a $750,000 grant on August 11, 2023, to bolster the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in orchestrating urgent support for Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) grappling with climate-induced perils.

The funding amplifies CDEMA’s capacity in augmenting national emergency response efforts.

This encompasses training response personnel, including gender specialists, and offering technical aid to national disaster management entities via Country Work Programmes.

As highlighted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report, the region’s susceptibility to severe tropical cyclones and other hazards underlines the urgency of such assistance.

CDB’s partnership with CDEMA fortifies disaster resilience and proactive recovery measures.
