CBH Workers Clean Two Beaches

9

The Central Board of Health Workers are on a roll this week as dozens of vector control employees descended upon Fort James and Runaway Beach for the grand litter picking exercise on Wednesday.

The event, which forms part of CBH’s annual Mosquito Awareness Week of activities, saw over fifty workers collecting close to sixty bags of garbage from the two beaches.

Attention will now turn to Thursday’s big sports day initiative slated for 9 am at the Dredgers Play-field near the Queen Elizabeth Highway.

  1. If these events were publicised beforehand, there’s no reason why members of the public, school groups, church groups, etc… would not get involved! The younger, the better! Let’s start to take some pride in our country and let the litter-louts know that their behaviour is not welcome!

  2. Start enforcing the litter act. It seems it will just be another law on the books. Nothing seems to happen. Sad that you cannot instruct the police to do their job

  3. I agree, I think these beach cleaning should be publicised beforehand. I’m sure many volunteers would love to help, with CBH leading the effort.

Antigua really needs to focus on clean beaches. We need to figure out a way to stop these awful gangster beach vendors from throwing trash everywhere – I see them do it all the time.

    • The public have been implored to clean the beaches and communities clean.

It’s sad that the authorities need to beckon us to keep OUR OWN surroundings clean.

  4. Clean all of the beaches everyday…let the nasty ppl in this country pay for this daily service

  5. Church group, schools, etc could take it on themselves to adopt a beach and the. Have a little roar to keep in clean. Down here in Falmouth we regular clean up Rendezvous Bay and Marl Bay. And I know others who clean other beaches including Pigeon Point Beach.

  6. Each MP can rally their constituents (just like they do election time) and plan a grand community clean up simultaneously.
