Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced immediate measures to combat the escalating rat infestation in St. John’s.

The problem drew national attention following a viral video that depicted a large group of rats seeking refuge from the rain.

Addressing the public’s concerns, Prime Minister Browne stated he has personally reached out to the head of the Central Board of Health, Mr. Spencer, to initiate urgent pest control measures. “I called Mr. Spencer, and he’s going to set some baits now and some traps for these rats. In particular, I have never seen so many rats in such small space,” Browne emphasized.

The video, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, shows dozens of rats huddled together, highlighting the severity of the infestation.

Residents of St. John’s have expressed their distress and are calling for immediate and effective action to ensure public health and safety.
