Carnival 2024 Prize Money Tops $1.5 Million
The Festivals Commission has announced that Carnival 2024’s total prize money exceeds $1.5 million. Senator Shenella Govia, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Creative Industries, confirmed that all Carnival contest winners have received their prize money, which was distributed on stage during the events. Winners were given both a symbolic display check and a cashable check.
Senator Govia also noted that payments for unplaced participants are still pending and can be collected at the Festivals Office. Additionally, up to seventy-five percent of contracted amounts have been paid to service providers, with the remainder expected to be settled with Cabinet support.
Govia commended the sponsors for their crucial role in Carnival 2024’s success and urged them to maintain and potentially increase their support for Carnival 2025, highlighting their importance in promoting the nation’s cultural heritage.
