Attention: Chief Fire Officer Wickham, Guyana Fire Service.
The Executive Committee and members of the Caribbean Association of Fire Fighters (CAFF) extend sincerest condolences to the rank and file of the Guyana Fire Service on the passing of your colleague Firefighter # 1871 Voshaun Manbodh.
We honour the bravery and sacrifice exhibited by Firefighter Manbodh in service to his country, which unfortunately lead to his demise.
Firefighting as a profession is recognized as one of the most dangerous, often ranking at the top or near the top, due to the inherent risks associated with it.
The incident of Wednesday, March 5, 2025 proved just that, when it took away our brother and friend. The region is heart-stricken by this devastating news and we at CAFF acknowledge and recognize the heroism displayed by Firefighter Manbodh in the line of duty. His selflessness and commitment to the preservation of life and property through his profession must be honoured.
We share in the grief and anxiety currently taking hold of every firefighter, family and friend of this hero in the country of Guyana. We wish that you express our heartfelt condolences to the rank and file of the Guyana Fire Service as well as the family and friends of Firefighter Manbodh.
CAFF pledges its support in contributing to the discussion on the improvement of the lives as well as the health and safety of firefighters within the region.
In the spirit of the principle expressed in the phrase “None of us is as good as all of us”, we urge the continuation of regional integration amongst the regions firefighters, as we learn, improve and evolve together.
Once again, please accept our deepest condolences, from the entire fraternity of the Caribbean Association of Fire Fighters (CAFF).
