A 48-year-old Canadian woman has been remanded in custody after authorities seized more than 67 pounds of cannabis from her luggage at the airport.

Roselynee Crisostomo was intercepted by officers after arriving on Air Canada flight AC1832 from Toronto on 10 March during a joint drug interdiction operation involving the Narcotics Department, Special Services Unit, K-9 Unit and Customs Enforcement Unit.

Officials said 61 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis were discovered inside two suitcases. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of about EC$536,000.

Crisostomo has been charged with drug trafficking, importation of cannabis, possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

When she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Thursday, prosecutors argued successfully that she should be denied bail.

The court ruled that she posed a flight risk as she has no known ties to Antigua and Barbuda.

She was remanded into custody and is due to return to court on 13 May 2026.

  1. It will be interesting to see how this case turns out.
The last guy, was charged a mere $1,000.00, although I am hoping that was a typo, I will be following this story.

  2. The law certainly must take its course. I maintain and this is my gut feeling, that this lady is only a drug mule, incentivised and paid to do a job. We should be equally as concerned about the sender of the drug and the person locally that she was taking it too. Only God knows if those persons would ever be known.

  3. Girl we hope that you’ll spill the beans on your handlers but we know that this will never happen because you’re to entrench on the cartels. So you’ll probably get Wendell as your legal counsel, some wheeling, dealing and legal manaueverings will take place and you’ll probably pay a huge fine and be out of Antigua poste haste.

  4. @Audley.
    Exactly!

And I’m sure she had cash on her that was confiscated as well, but you never hear about that when these bust are made, do you?

Of course she is a mule. It’s only the mules that get caught with drugs..drug kingpins are way too smart to be caught smuggling their own drugs, and in this case 67lb of ganja in your suitcase..how dumb, or the corrupt agent wasn’t on duty that day.. 😂

  5. @Rescue of course the ole chap Wendell is to the rescue. He wasn’t a COP turned Criminal Defense Attorney, just because; it’s because he knows their MO, their secrets and their move to beat them at the own game unlike Mr. WHAT THE HELL, who stands on the sidelines yelping at his former colleagues about their incompetence, as he try u to give them HELL. Wendell is the real trooper you want in your corner whether you’re innocent or guilty.

  6. @Joan: The man that was fined $1,000 EC.THE weed he had in his possession was worth EC$560.00. His was for personal use. It seems the quantity she had in her luggage was for selling. Not for personal use,in my opinion. SHE HAD 67 POUNDS OF WEED.

  7. I find it interesting that airport personnel in Toronto failed to intercept this when she originally boarded her flight there. Our Canadian friends missed it but the much criticized Antigua police/Customs personnel discovered it upon arrival in Antigua.

I find it amusing that someone is importing cannabis to Antigua from 2,000 miles away!
