A campaign supporting Jack Stroll’s efforts to recover millions from Global Bank of Commerce now includes cellphone cases for sale on Amazon and eBay.
Stroll, a Canadian businessman, has been trying to withdraw his funds for over three years, raising concerns about the bank’s financial stability. Global Bank provided him with US$13.5 million in Treasury bills as collateral but defaulted on repayment agreements, leading Stroll to file lawsuits against CEO Brian Stuart Young and Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne blamed the bank’s liquidity issues on limited deposits and large withdrawals, accusing Stroll of trying to bankrupt the institution, a claim Stroll denies. The FSRC, which oversees the bank, has not commented.

FSRC are clearly in dereliction of duty and I am not sure why Stroll has not sued the directors and administrators of FSRC for not taking action to take over the bank. All of these problems with the bank being unable to pay and FSRC is silent and takes no action? Incompetence.
Who is the head of FSRC?
Why would the PM be blaming a customer of wanting to bankrupt an institution for wanting to withdraw your own money?
That is what they would say to me if I want to withdraw $11 million?
Is there a competent person at the helm of the financial protection bureau in Antigua and Barbuda?
I am warning the AG now, the locals need a bill of rights that protect us them from credit bureaus and debt collectors in Antigua and Barbuda now there are credit bureaus.
As the AG knows I own a consumer credit law/advocacy firm (credit repair agency) and have been in this field for over 14 years. I actually started out doing that before going into other areas of administrative and regulatory law. I took on big car dealership, finance company/bank and credit bureaus having them settle with $1.5 million.
Was it Mr. ‘CHANSPARENCY’ who told the bank to stay silent? He seems to be the spokesperson for everything; Airlines, Banks and Gangs.
It is very regrettable that it has come to this. It is both sullying and harming the name of the Bank and by extension Antigua and Barbuda. That we have allowed this matter to get to this stage is unfortunate, grievous and distressing. It is perhaps something that anyone would do if they had monies in a bank or a financial institution that they cannot access. This has already ruined the reputation of Global Bank of Commerce and is likely to tarnish our reputation as an offshore banking center now and in the future. Even our local banking sector can be adversely affected by this ongoing saga with people being fearful and scared of putting their hard earned monies into local banking institutions, fearing that when they are ready for it, the same thing might befall them. .
I personally do think that this matter was dealt with properly from day one. This matter didn’t have to make its way into the public domain. It has literally ruined the reputation of a seasoned and professional Banker in the person of Mr. Stuart-Young, killed Global Bank of Commerce and created a public relations nightmare that just wouldn’t go away. No one would sit idly by and keep quiet when they cannot get access to their money. I believe that there is still time for both Global Bank of Commerce and the Government to meet privately with Mr. Jack Stroll and resolve this issue. You cannot blame him for fighting tooth and nail to get his money. If we agree that it is his money, then the man has a right to fight until he is paid. We have an obligation to settle with him quickly. Antigua and Barbuda’s reputation is on the line.

Even Barbuda’s $1M USD donations can’t be retrieved. Why was Barbuda’s donation directed to this known financially troubled bank? And what kind of off shore bank doesn’t have $1M USD? Ah wan piggy bank?

Antigua’s infrastructure was never as bad as it is today with the current govt in place. Dilapidated unsafe buildings govt employees have to work in; pensioners not getting their pensions; roads, water electricity all sub par in performance; hospital staff and other govt workers not getting paid or low paid; all the financial institutions that a certain someone have his fingers in always in some scandal, the most current one is Global Bank can’t return the over $1million USD that belongs to Jack Stroll. Those are the funds that were to go towards the rebuilding of Barbuda.
Cornell will never say a thing about any of these mentioned.

There are certain relationships which require confidentiality, among which are doctor/ patient, attorney/client and banker/ customer relationships. We, the general public, do not have a right to insert ourselves into a matter which is before the courts. There seems to be great haste by Jack Stroll to withdraw large sums of money as he says, four years ago. Lest we forget, four years ago planet earth was crippled by the covid 19 pandemic. Nothing moved for 2 years after. Then slowly but surely the world managed to extricate itself from what seemed to be armageddon. Impatience by any individual or sector was not on the menu. It seems that Jack Stroll was in a rush to get his money withdrawn with indecent haste. I want it ALL, I WANT IT NOW. With economies, businesses worldwide still reeling from the pandemic this was never going to be a supersonic process. So he sued the institution, publicized his gripes via media both national and international. This slowed the process even further. The suits expanded further to other agencies who didn’t respond with the haste he required. This has developed into a vicious persistent and targeted attack against one individual and an institution which has given and still gives employment to many Antiguans, an institution which has supported and sponsored many humanitarian, social, sporting and other events over the decades. Lest we forget! So what is all this media carnage about? Jack Stroll needs to let the public know if he has not been paid a single cent since his court action. Only he can bring TRUTH and CLARITY to this public dogfight. Remember , Jack, the lives and livelihoods of loyal staff and their families as well as loyal customers and their families of this institution are also the targets of your vitriol. The ball is in your court! Let there be light!

Is Matilda Tenman? A man deposited his hard earned money, what idiot is going to tell a man, a person, when they can withdraw their hard earned money.
The institution is the one assuming the risk of holding and using customer’s money, it is not a legal excuse that a pandemic came and the bank does not have the money in which it was task with holding for a customer.
Did all customer demanded their money at the same time?
There is nothing at all that can be considered badfaith for wanting your money. If it was Tenman/Matilda or PM Browne or AG Benjamin wanting all their money, they would have deserve it all. Show me the contract and or policies the bank has that state when you make deposit you will not be allowed access to all your money when you want?
Based on how this matter is being handled, SEC, FBI, US Department of State, CFPB, FTC and other agencies should investigate this matter.
You think any bank could tell me a pandemic cause them to not have my money I had them hold for me.
If that man hires me to deal with this regulatory law matter, pertaining to US, administrative agencies, I will do what it takes for him to get his money back and for the financial regulatory system in Antigua to work. They hate people with advance degree of knowledge in their fields but it is time they take my recommendation into consideration.
