Camillo Gonsalves, the Minister of Finance and Council Member for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has assumed the role of Chairman for the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Monetary Council.
He takes over from Phillip J. Pierre, the Honourable Prime Minister and Council Member of St. Lucia, following an official handover ceremony on Wednesday.
As the highest decision-making authority of the ECCB, the Monetary Council consists of eight finance ministers representing member governments.
Antigua and Barbuda is set to chair the council in 2026.
Gonsalves’ appointment marks a significant leadership change in the regional financial institution.
