Calvin Ayre Foundation Donates Almost $600 Thousand To Government Food Relief Programme

The Calvin Ayre Foundation (CAF), has today cemented its financial commitment towards the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Grace Initiative Covid-19 Food Relief programme for vulnerable families. The donation, totaling EC$594,000, will be distributed in installments over a period of four months.

“We are all navigating unchartered waters,” said Executive Director of the CAF, Corinna Delowsky. “We realize that there could be more difficult days ahead and that our current situation might be extended. So, we’re playing our part in allotting these funds over the next four months, which period is likely to be most critical.”

In addition to child welfare, education and social development, Delowsky said emergency response has been one of the areas the CAF has committed to lending its support, for the past 15 years.

“We are an organization that supports the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda in times of crisis,” she said. “This time will be no different.”

Minister of Social Transformation and the Blue Economy, Hon. Dean Jonas, who is spearheading the Covid-19 Relief initiative, expressed heartfelt thanks for the timely donation on behalf of the government.

The generous donation of the Calvin Ayre Foundation has assisted the Government and in particular the Ministry of Social Transformation, in achieving its mission to help those who are struggling to survive in very difficult circumstances,” Min. Jonas said. “It is donations like these that also provide a window of opportunity for those who are forced to reconsider their lifestyle to make changes for a more sustainable future for themselves and their families. The Ministry of Social Transformation expresses its sincere thanks to Calvin Ayre and his team for their continued contribution to national development and the wellbeing of the society.”

Chairman of the Ayre Group and Special Economic Envoy to the Government, Ambassador Calvin Ayre, admitted that like any employer and citizen, he is concerned about the future of the country’s economy. However, feeding the vulnerable and food security are of immediate concern in this time of crisis.

“We know current projections dictate that things are likely to get much worse before they improve, he said, “But I can assure the government and the people of Antigua and Barbuda that the Ayre Group and the Calvin Ayre Foundation are here for the long haul.”

  1. Well I looks like he is the new Sir Allen Stanford. I hope we all remember what happened with the old SIR Allen Stanford.

    • What kind of ridiculous and dumb thing is this to say to somebody? Comparing Calvin to Stanford is just dumb and ridiculous. Personally, I really appreciate the donations and kindness, people don’t need to make donations. Thank you Mr. Ayre for your kindness and your donation!

    • He’s a legitimate business man so he’s no Stanford. But at the end of the day nobody does all this for nothing. Just saying.

    • I think Calvin Ayre is very kind for making these donations and caring about Antigua. I am a native-born Antiguan and I like Calvin a lot and I think he loves Antigua a lot.

  3. So when will Antigua poor people see some packages form the 1 million dollar from Barrett, the ECB, Calvyn Ayre’s 60 thousand just to name a few?? How about helping these hotels workers who are still home with no income??

Maybe you’re getting some of the money too which is why you’re butt hurt over my comment. How about doing something more noble and noteworthy and help the struggling people of the country in this pandemic rather than grease the hands of the powers that be. Me say the hotel employees need to be looked at too and this is my opinion so go and try grow a proper beard and learn how to properly do some push ups for your PTSD. Don’t come for me ya k*nt

    • If you are an Antiguan citizen, you should so gratitude and thanks to Mr. Ayre for providing these donations. He is a good man and a kind man – he didn’t have to make these donations.

Looking for handouts is ridiculous. Why don’t you go start a business or do something productive instead of complaining online?

      • Start a business doing what selling drugs or from the proceeds of crime??
You’re one of his cheerleaders or maybe he’s been up your *ss? how much did he pay you? Why is he just giving the people who are not broke or struggling money shut the hell up.
