Call for Public Participation in National Marijuana Use Survey
The Marijuana Review Committee, operating under the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation, is currently in the data-gathering phase of its research into the effects of marijuana following its decriminalisation.
Chaired by Dr. Kwasi K. Tonge, a researcher at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, the Committee is collecting data primarily through surveys and focus group discussions to assess public perception of marijuana use. The study seeks to capture perspectives from a diverse cross-section of society, including members of the general public, students, healthcare professionals, educators, the sacramental community, and organised groups.
The Committee expresses heartfelt appreciation to those who have already contributed to the survey and underscores the importance of ongoing public participation. Community input is essential to shaping the national conversation on marijuana use and informing future policy decisions.
