Cabinet Says No More Rapid Testing At Airport Then Changes Its Mind

12

The Cabinet of Antigua & Barbuda today made changes to two important decision which will affect arriving passengers to the destination.

Cabinet decided that testing of the guests will take place at the hotel property where all those newly arriving will stay. But later at the post-Cabinet news conference Information Minister Melford Nicholas announced that the swabbing will take place at the airport.

In addition to that, it was announced that they will be administered the PCR test. The rapid tests will not be administered as announced before.

More than 120 returning nationals are expected here on an American Airlines flight on June 4. Agreed protocols have been put in place to seek to prevent passengers disembarking from infecting members of the population.

Each passenger will pass through a camera that will also take the person’s temperature.

Cabinet reported that the passengers will be quickly moved through Immigration and Customs, and directed to sanitized taxis and buses to transport them to bio-secure spaces, where they will be staying.

  1. So the taxi drivers will be quarantined along with their passengers? 😳 Otherwise, they might as well just tell us to drop the charade of wearing masks and standing 6ft apart, because we’re just wasting time.

This is the quality of decision-making u get when politicians become the technicians.

By the way, have they even thought of the fact that when our tourists return home to the USA, they will have to endure a 14-day quarantine? That’s their policy for all international travellers. That’s a real incentive for vacationing in A&B

    • Why all the negativity, can’t we be positive for once.
Put u in the position, u might have made similar decisions.
So, instead of criticizing, why don’t we just pray for positivity.. Just saying..

  2. No rapid testing because we have no rapid test kits.

Dr Molwyn and the rest of the medical technicians should realise that A&B is a small community and, try as they may, they can’t hide anything from the public

  3. This is obviously a joke .. I have never seen so much back and forth. This nation is obviously not ready yet! Keep the boarders close and try again for July 1st.

    What a circus!

The government has to allow people to go back to work and open the airport. Gaston Browne has determined that he will not give Antiguans a stimulus package no matter how much he gets in loans or grants. Antiguans can either die from Covid or starvation.

  4. These guys change their minds before they have even made a decision. I wonder how they manage to decide which pair of underwear to wear any given day? They have gone away from rapid testing because they do not have these tests so they gone to the lab tests but those will run out fast after one or two plane loads of people. Watch. Pretty soon they will have no tests and let all visitors in with no testing.

  5. So of you’re An American returning for only a week but you’re staying with family, what will happen?

      LOL hahahahahahhahahah

We got this it may seem as if we do not know what we are doing, I would like to assure you this is a first for all of us we may not get it right the first time but at least we recognize short comings and make adjustments in the interest of all. I think the Cabinet should be applauded for creating chaos and maintaining a straight face as if we know what we are doing.
