Cabinet receives Committe’s report on work permit waivers for CARICOM and DR Nationals

3

CABINET NOTES:

The Cabinet received the report of a Committee organized to recommend the manner in which waiver of work permits for CARICOM and Dominican Republic Nationals are to be structured. An amendment to the existing law is required and so too will be the regulations governing the issuance of work permit.

The draft legislation is to be submitted to a team in the Ministry of Legal Affairs and brought to Cabinet and then to the Parliament, within a matter of weeks.

The promise to waive these work permit fees was made during the January 2023 General Elections Campaign and every effort is being made to fulfill that promise as soon as humanly possible.

  1. Is this happening in any of the territories where these people are natives of.
I’m sure bet no Antiguan &Barbudan ever gone to these places and got a waver of work permit. Note your decision doesn’t reflect the will of majority of natives of Antigua & Barbuda

  2. What about salary increase for Mount St John’s workers?

And the covid money that persons have not received as yet?

Yet you expect the work to drain their blood to offer what the public should receive and that is quality Care but without no concern or feelings for nurses doctors and auxiliary staff

  3. As a Jamaican I’m not for this wavier because it’s going to cost the economy. What could be done is an reduction in processing fees
