The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has approved an undisclosed amount of “additional funds” for the Police Force as it seeks to reduce a recent flare up in criminal activity.

Cabinet notes by Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office Lionel “Max” Hurst indicate that the police top brass were invited to meet with the Cabinet on Wednesday.

“The list of additional equipment, which the Police Force requires, was submitted. The additional funds required by the crime fighters received the immediate approval of the Cabinet,” the notes indicated.

It is the opinion of Police Commissioner Wendell Robinson and the police high Command that the several murders recorded in the past three weeks are the result of drug gangs fighting each other over turf.

“The Police brass agreed that the situation warrants great concern, and pledged to address the challenge with their most experienced and best officers so that the situation will be brought under control in a very short time,” Hurst noted.

In the past few weeks communities in Antigua have witnessed the shooting death of an elderly woman in Gray’s Farm, the kidnapping and murder of a Jamaican national in Cedar Grove and the arrest of a 35 year old woman for the murder of her ex-lover, a 72 year old farmer and calypsonian.

Prime minister Browne, the Attorney General and the phatological fabricator Lionel Hurst keep reciting “crime is on the decrease”. Tell them to continue to repeat that as a poem!! The reality is crime in Antigua and Barbuda has its imitation in the Nation’s CABINET on a daily basis. ALMIGHTY GOD we need Devine Intervention most soonest. Amen

  3. Commish Robinson, keep up the good job. I for one and my family stand with you and your team. Keep fighting the evil

  4. We need to amend our Constitution in order to allow the Electorates to Impeach Governments who failed to meet, realize or make good on their Manifestos or Election Campaign Promises. The Prime Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues told the Nation when they were campaigning in 2014, that they will immediately implement tried and proven plans and best practices to Reduce Crime and the Fear of Crime in the Nation. Presently it is over three (3) years since they are in government. Crime, Lawlessness, Offences , Immorality, Suicides and Anti-Social Behaviour amongst our youths are now rampant in the Nation. Prime Minister you and your Government are too busiy Enriching yourselves. You have failed the Nation. The majority of the Populace are demanding an Amendment to our Constitution so that you and your Self Enriching Avoricious Hobgoblin Fiends can be removed from office PRONTO. Amen.
