An elderly man’s arrest should be handled with extra care—was excessive force used?

If the man was mistreated, those responsible must be held accountable!

Hope this doesn’t get swept under the rug like so many other cases.

Why does it always take public outrage for these investigations to happen?

I hope this isn’t just a political delay tactic. Justice must be swift and fair.

Will the elderly man’s side of the story be heard fairly in this investigation?

Conclusion: Old man prob a good citizen his entire life makes a mistake in traffic and
prob didn’t even realize it. Maybe his time behind the wheel is coming to
a closure…The officer who I have seen many times always seems very cool
and placid probably was already having a bad day and old man prob added to
his frustration..The old man was wrong fro not complying but at the same time
we must take into consideration that old people can be hard to deal with..The
officer used unjustified excessive force to remove the man from the
establishment and should be punished because he cannot take advantage of the
uniform..

What if one day when Commissioner Rodney is retired he does something out of character while in public due to his age?? What if he is dealt with in that manor by new officers who may not be aware of who he is?? Will it be said he is not a good role model or will he be seen as an elderly retired Police Commissioner who made a mistake??

After his abuse he is put in the trunk of the police car? Shameful. What’s to think about CABINET?
You can see the abuse taking place. What if it were your elderly father or grandfather?

I have second hand embarrassment from the actions of this police officer. He need to take off the uniform once and for all.

Are these the same police officers we want to come to our homes and manhandle the criminals only when it suits us?

Hopefully all officers get hygiene training cus some are you mouth stink a shit..

What is there to investigate the police brutality manhandle the man in broard daylight in living colour and they charged him with battery when he did not even lift a finger to defend himself.. they definitely charged the wrong man. That’s what they should be investigating

It is about time that an investigation gets underway because nobody should be dragged like that and place in a trunk. So he couldnt have been allowed to be placed in the normal seat in the car? And i saw like they shoved him in a rough way. Over illegal packing?

I ask, what harm could an 82 year old man could cause to a Police Officer? I mean, after seeing things with my own eyes and the police saying different I will never trust the words of a police. This man couldn’t have done any harm to police

How timely the investigation gets done and the quality of the information given to the public, will determine if the Acting Commissioner is suitable to be Commissioner of The Royal Police.

The Ex-Comissioner style was to keep his mouth shut and stay out of the public as much as he can at times when the public was looking to hear from the Commissioner.
The public needs to hear from the Acting Commissioner. He needs to hold a news conference and answer questions from the media.
The Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda is not s secret society. Time to end the sealed lips culture. It’s only incompetence that will be the reason for hiding.
The Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda needs to get beyond all the Colonial rituals with the rods and his they hold the rods. That does not solve crime and keep the community safe.

In this video I saw a uniformed officer making an arrest and the suspect clearly resisting. You either come along or you will be carried along.
Video starts with both talking. So suspect first failed to comply with instructions, then he resisted arrest.

Should it matter that he is 84. Ethics maybe, legality no. I seriously doubt there is anything in regulation that says suspect of different age groups should be treated differently.

Why do we say he was placed in the ,TRUNK’. While not quite false. It is very misleading and volatile. You say trunk, most persons think car trunk. Small, confined, air tight. I saw a jeep. The investigation will reveal that he was placed in the ‘cargo compartment.’ Yeah, I know, cargo goes in trunk right. All trunks are cargo compartments, but not all cargo compartments are trunks.

Why not place him in the regular seat. No.1 The man was resisting. No.2, I doubt that vehicle has a security barrier between front and back seat. (Have never seen any here.) If he had gone peacefully, am sure he would of been escorted to the back seat. But he kept resisting even after his hands were restrained. I am all about facts. Remember that crazy man that killed a Police in the cell at St. John’s Police station a few years back. When restrained in a police vehicle he still kept on resisting, and that resistance interfered with the driver causing him to loose control and hit another vehicle. With all those facts before Judge you, can you blame the Officers for placing him in the back. If the government do not want the police to do that. Then give them security barriers in vehicles.

What we should be talking about is not the process of the arrest, but the legality of it. I am not sure if you can be arrested for a traffic offense, and that is my only issue here. If arrest was legally, officer’s action though not perfect, is OK by me. But please, let’s wait on results of investigation.

Remember during covid at Pay Less shoe store. Pregnant lady vs Officer. We all had the officer loosing his job. He was validated in court, and pregnant lady was so kind as to make a video apologizing to the officer.

Why is the Cabinet waiting on a report, is it going to make a determination based on the report? Seems like the Police are being controlled by the Politicians as was always assumed. Did it ask for a report of the tear-gassing of picketers a few years ago?
