Cabinet Approves Immediate Burials at Tomlinson’s Upon Completion of Fencing and Plans

4

CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet made a decision to commence burials at Tomlinson’s immediately after the demarcated land has been fenced and the plans for graves and buildings are completed.

The St. John’s Public Cemetery cannot accommodate burials, unless in the graves of family members; and, the public cemetery next to the Lady of the Valley Church is nearing maximum capacity.

It is evident that cremation will become an alternative to burial of cadavers.

Regulations are to be adopted by the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda in order to ensure that certain standards are adhered to in the new Tomlinson’s Cemetery; only standardized headstones are to be utilized to allow for a tidy and respectful burial place for loved-ones.

  1. Of course burials have to commence if there is a disaster at your door (cabinet and Molwyn).

Do you think we the sensible people in Antigua really believe that ‘the cemetery design’ will ever be completed under a labour party government?

You all are a bunch of fart-boxes.

  2. What happen to the design by the man who designed Arlington National Cemetery? It was said that he designed that so called cemetery at Tomlinson Estate.A way de money garne?

  3. Government must not try to be in everything. A public cemetery should be as simple as it comes. For more advanced things people should pay and only have that available in a private cemetery. Barnes and Straffie should be given either a cemetery of their own or one they can operate together. A public cemetery should be only for the less fortunate that cannot afford to have a place for their loved ones. Even after death there is separation of the dead. I wanted my father and mother in a restricted area, and I wanted to reserve my space right next to theirs. Infact I would want to pay for the entire family to have their space booked. And I don’t believe I am the only one. Just like we have buried Papa and George separately. Rich People do not want to be buried next to poor and common people or criminals. In the old days, the rich would have purchased their space in the church burial yard.
