A Lightfoot resident has been left shaken following a harrowing ordeal Thursday evening in which she was robbed at gunpoint as she arrived home with her two children.

Police say the businesswoman was pounced upon by two masked gunmen who demanded the key to her silver Toyota Hilux registered C16880.

They also made off with her handbag containing an undisclosed sum of cash, cellular phone and cheques. Neither she nor her children were injured during the incident which happened sometime after 8:30.

Police are now searching for the assailants as well as the businesswoman’s vehicle and other belongings.

They are asking anyone with information which may be able to assist, to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).

  1. This is a very small country, and I don’t understand how is it that the police here are too slow to do, find or arrest those people.

Is getting to the point that we will have to take things on our own hands, because the police here are a joke. The system here is a joke and the government as well.

  2. This is standard procedure here in Antigua, same old.
You hand over your keys and tell the popo.
The popo then responds only if there is confirmation that there is a substantial amount of weed or coke.
So my dear citizens, if you got jacked in any way, nah bother call popo.
The police is a complete waste of time.
If I get jacked…….those coming better be prepared and they better make sure its worth it because life is a privilege, a gift.

  4. Can somebody please explain to me, why is it that when anybody calls out our Prime Minister on his behaviour or lack of, he’s throwing litigation matters left right and centre?

However, with the rising crime rates in my beloved country, you don’t hear a pip squeak out of him?

YOU SOON HEAR HE GONE ABROAD AGAIN!!!

HOW WAS THIS ANTI-ANTIGUAN MAN EVER ELECTED TO OFFICE. BAFFLING!

  5. This is a question not an indictment. Are the Police involved in the committing of some of those crimes on Antigua? I find it very convenient that no one has been arrested for those crimes committed. There are crooked persons in every profession around the World.Antigua is not the exception.

  6. There are persons in Antigua. Who have applied for a license to carry a hand gun. They are turned down many times. Many are small business owners. However, those of criminal minds could go and buy an illegal fire arm under cover. Then they would use those fire arms and rob others. I am a license gun owner, all of my guns are registered. I do not live in Antigua. Set up a process and vet the applicants, background checks, etc. Then once all things come back clean you give the licenses.People need to begin to protect themselves from those no good scoundrels of the earth.

    • @Bugsy-my wife and I have been training in Kali (Filipino knife fighting) for the past three years.
Attackers never know who they’re messing with.
