Browne Urges Massive Turnout for Labour Day March to Showcase ABLP Strength
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called on supporters of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) to mobilise in large numbers for the upcoming Labour Day march, urging at least 10,000 people to take to the streets to demonstrate the party’s continued dominance.
Speaking at a rally on Friday night, Mr Browne said the Labour Day celebration would serve as a clear message that the ABLP remains the political party of choice in Antigua and Barbuda.
“Come this Labour Day, we must show them that the Labour Party is the greatest political movement in this hemisphere,” the ABLP leader declared. “Let us put 10,000 people on the road.”
The Prime Minister framed the march not only as a show of strength but as a tribute to the party’s long-standing history in nation-building. He referenced founding leaders such as Sir Vere Cornwall Bird and said he was proud to build on the legacy of the “39ers and 76ers”—referring to landmark election victories in the party’s history.
“I am proud to be the leader of this great organisation,” he said. “The Labour Party built this country, and we continue to empower the people.”
Mr Browne’s call comes amid ongoing political tensions, with the Prime Minister facing criticism over allegations tied to the Alfa Nero yacht and other issues. However, he told supporters that the Labour movement remains unshaken by what he described as smear campaigns.
“No matter how they slander us or defame us, they can’t stop this movement,” he said. “Provided that I have breath, I will continue to fight for you unrelentingly.”
Labour Day, observed annually in Antigua and Barbuda on the first Monday in May, is a key political and cultural event often marked by rallies, parades, and speeches by trade unions and political parties.
This year’s march is expected to take on added political significance as both government and opposition parties seek to energise their bases ahead of future electoral contests.
Mr Browne concluded his remarks with a message of unity and momentum: “Let’s fight the battle. Let us continue to take the fight to the UPP.”

Even the news reporters are confused from been around you Gaston and your drug medicine induced ranting about the sale of the Alfa Nero.
Be sure to lease a cruise ship and take the crowed to Federal Plaza in Bew York to demonstrate about your GUILT or innocence.
PM Browne said he will continue to fight for you? I personally knows and my family members knows that PM Browne constantly says things like, “I can not help you”. Even when the law clearly says he can and when he should.
I see this as a man who no matter what, will not voluntarily hand over power and leadership. He will never give any other person the opportunity to lead the ABLP organisation. This is not a sign of a good leader.
They mentioned this would be his last term as PM (leader of the ABLP), now he is expressing that this is not going to happen.
There is an alfa nero financial issue and instead of having the TV program with independent commission or investigators or independent US attorney, etcetera, on the panel on the TV show, he had his personal Antigua attorney that is highly incompetent pertaining to US law, civil procedures, federal rules of evidence, UCC, etcetera. But this only conveys guilt. It is a let me bring in an incompetent person to say what I want him to say because the right and qualified people will speak the truth, and that truth will be I, PM Browne, committed a crime, contract breach, and tort. That is how PM Browne’s action made me feel as Prime Minister for having a TV program with all those people employed by him, bow to high and is his local and private attorney (who must be a partial, bias and zealous advocate for the PM no matter what).
These uncalculated and highly unstrategic actions by the PM are making me believe the allegations that PM Brown stole, breached and is tortious.
Can the PM Browne please provide me with any kind of evidence, please, I beg, that he did not commit any of the above being alleged against him?
March for what? For foreign scum murdering our children? For no running water? For no current? For the worst public education in the WI? For dilapidated infrastructure? What exactly are we marching for?
@my way.
He cannot produce any evidence that dismisses the allegations, so that’s why he’s fighting the subpoena.
It’s as straight forward as it gets.
