REAL NEWS: Former United Progressive Party Minister Hilson “Brother B” Baptiste is said to be in high spirits as he undergoes rehabilitation after suffering a stroke.
Initial reports, last month, indicated that Baptiste had suffered a stroke that had left him unable to speak; and he was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.
Subsequently, the former MP was moved to a regular ward as he continued his recovery.
Now, some four weeks later, he is undergoing physical rehabilitation and is said to be making steady improvements. He has regained some degree of movement and independence.
On Monday, September 11, the UPP candidate for St. Mary’s South, Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, paid a visit to Baptiste, whom he considers a mentor.
Simon says the former minister was in high spirits and is following the instructions of his healthcare advisors.
In the meantime, Baptiste indicates that he is grateful for the level of care he has received and for the prayers and well wishes of family, friends, supporters and former constituents.
He also has offered words of encouragement to Simon, as the countdown to the by-election in St. Mary’s South ccontinues. Former UPP Political Leader Harold Lovell also checked in on his colleague, on Sunday, and confirmed that Baptiste is, indeed, in good spirits.

Great news!
So lovely to know that the Honourable Hilson ‘Brother B’ Baptist is recovering well from his recent illness; and it’s good to hear the love and support from his family, friends and former colleagues.
I for one will never forget his drive, enthusiasm and fight to ensure that life saving drugs were made available for Antiguans when needed back in the day – you will always be a man of the people, for the people.
GET WELL SOON SIR 🙏🏽
Best of wishes to you,Brother B. Continue to get well and stay positive.
Good to hear, miss that restaurant he had in town. Helps explains why I prefer the airbnb concept over the all inclusive ( money more circulates in the economy with the airbnb). Anyway Hilston, wishing you a full recovery. Not sure what wisdom you can offer the foolish virgin. Unlike you, he will ever be a minister so him learning from your multiple mistakes won’t help
@ tenman
Nobody can ever take anything you say seriously- your entire statement is a paradox and should be ignored. Just like you promised all 17 seats will be won by the ABLP in January and especially the All Saints East and St Luke’s will definitely be won by Colin James, just so you promised that Shuggy made a bad mistake and the seat will be taken from him when he loses the seat by proclamation of your ‘setup’ judge. What will you do when he wins? Lick up your vomit?
@Money election – He lost the seat. Gave it up before the judge could. You happy he wasted tax payers money by not following a well known rule? Was reminded a few days ago that persons for eg in the US get charged and eventually go to prison for what Suggy did. Take the time to read the Hatch act and its prohibition of Federal workers engaging in partisan politics
Your mother made a mistake, she should have dump you at birth
@Big John stud- Wow such hate. Must be going something good. My siblings will tell you I am her favorite hence she spoiled me. Anyway boss have no hatred for you. Let go of the hate, its not healthy
You mean this man would live to see another day in order to get rid of bird people. We all as they say only the good die young.
Speedy recovery Brother B.
Glad to hear you are on the rd to recovery 🙏🏽
