British lawyer welcomes Choksi’s planned return to A&B

One of the legal representatives of wanted diamond dealer Mehul Choksi is welcoming plans to return him to Antigua and Barbuda.

On Monday, the High Court in Dominica granted Choksi bail so that he can return to Antigua for medical treatment and adjourned his judicial review application and the criminal proceedings against him for unlawful entry.

London Barrister and Director of Justice Abroad, Michael Polak said the body is very pleased that the Dominican Court has made the “principled and humanitarian” choice to release the Indian born man so that he can access specialist medical care here.

The wanted man is expected to consult with neurologist Dr Gaden Osbourne at the Sir Lester Bird Mount St John’s Medical Centre, and must inform the Court of any change of specialist or any further referral to another specialist.

As a requirement for his bail, Choksi also had to pay EC $10,000.

He stated further that Choksi has been through “a very difficult few weeks” and the ordeal has had a detrimental effect on him physically.

Polak said that it is the right outcome that he be able to return to Antigua, where he can access the medical attention that he requires and be with his family.

According to the attorney, Choksi is suffering from a number of ailments including cerebrovascular disease, coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure.

He is also suffering from a subdural hematoma, which is the collection of blood between the skull and the surface of the brain.

Choksi has maintained that he was abducted from Antigua and Barbuda on May 23, was brutally beaten and taken to the nature isle by force by operatives out of the twin island state and India.

  1. For medical treatment ? Even a lawyer like me that recently graduated could easily bring this case forward Against both Antigua and Dominica.
Most of the moves now appears to be save face maneuvers .
Where’s the boat driver he easily should be charged.
He should not have been allowed to carry on
his merry way since he supposedly brought CHOKSI illegally into the country .
Why all of the men involved in the kidnapping including the female wasn’t charged and allowed to leave ?
Why was only Choski held and charged with illegal entry . He did not drop out of a rain cloud.
Guys I don’t care which party you back but come on man really ?

    • What else do you expect from a banana republic check all those involved starting at the top A&B pm and Dominica pm and all those cops involved in the case in Dominica see who’s been Banking or spending lots of money.

      • Choksi is innocent, read about the corruption of India’s PM that Choksi was trying to fight against.

    • This is the same opinion I have, and same questions I have been asking.I have no Doubt that there was a conspiracy between India The Antigua Dictator Hitler and our Dominica Government. Only the Blind without commonsense would believe otherwise

  2. His bail should have been set at one million dollars to ensure that he WILL return to Dominica. Stop the nonsense. He should be arrested and held on arrival in Antigua. Make room for him in 1735. The boys will be glad to see him.

    • Betty’s # you really think the Dominican government really want him back in Dominica they are so glad to be rid of him don’t be surprised further down the line the Dominican government is facing a multi million dollars lawsuit filed for wrongful imprisonment and a lot more charges by Mr Choksi’s lawyers.

      • They should put him among the criminals so he can get a taste of what he might expect in india. Choksi the wanted fraudster is now the victim and has to be compensated according experts like straightup.

        • Right now choksi is the least of your problems in A&B And Dominica you have probable cause to believe your Pm’s is involved in kidnapping and human trafficking and it seem like you don’t give a damn you take the man money with both hands and now ready to throw him to the Wolves I hope the others citizen by investment is watching and seeing how Antigua treats it’s citizens.

  3. As someone who was looted by Choksi by conducting fraud on the pnb bank in india, I just wish that All the Drug mafias and other Crooks of the world are eagerly looking forward to becoming your Honourable Citizens, through CBI. You will definitely reap the benefits of what you sow.

  4. When he arrives here, don’t let him off the plane. Simply arrange for a transfer to an Indian aircraft. Timer to go back to the old country.

    • betty# you better wakeup and smell the coffee you have been watching to much movies there something called DUE PROCESS (fair treatment through the normal judicial system, especially as a CITIZEN’S ENTITLEMENT).

      • And what about the justice & Due process for millions of CITIZENS of India, whom he Defrauded, while he was NOT Antigua citizen.
“Due process” is nothing more than a Fig Leaf in his case as he has been granted bail for 10k local dollars, while his cousin and Co-accused has not been granted bail by London Courts, even for more than Million British pounds.

      • The man is a trickster and will use any means available to him to avoid returning to India to answer for his crimes

  5. Send Gaston Browne to Haiti and let them deal with him too. All he do is fcuk we over. He nah care bout no baddy but he tinking dutty self.

  6. Funny that the same British lawyers are quiet with regards to what the British government did and does to the West Indians of the Windrush generation.
And the little suck -ups here in Antigua pandering to the white British autocracy, as usual.

  7. Wait and see if he arrives in Antigua. There is an Indian military plane waiting for him in Dominica. They must have been told he was being released to get to Dominica right on time. Is there going to be another kidnapping?

    • Another “kidnapping”? That’s silly. The guy is on the run. There won’t be a kidbapping, but there could well be an arrest!!!!

  8. The man is a trickster and will use any means available to him to avoid returning to India to answer for his crimes

  9. And what about the justice & Due process for millions of CITIZENS of India, whom he Defrauded, while he was NOT Antigua citizen.
“Due process” is nothing more than a Fig Leaf in his case as he has been granted bail for 10k local dollars, while his cousin and Co-accused has not been granted bail by London Courts, even for more than Million British pounds.

    • It seems like that little chubby guy might have already had too much “due process”. He’s been processed and it time to go home to India to face the charges.
