SOURCE: NOAA – Tropical Storm Bret is heading towards the Lesser Antilles and is expected to bring powerful winds and heavy rainfall to parts of the islands later today and tonight.
As of 1100 AM AST, the storm was located at latitude 13.8 North and longitude 57.7 West, approximately 130 miles east-northeast of Barbados and 220 miles east of St. Lucia.
It has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and is moving west at 14 mph.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for St. Lucia, while Dominica, St. Lucia, and Martinique are under a Tropical Storm Warning.
Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are under a Tropical Storm Watch.
Residents in the Lesser Antilles should closely monitor the progress of Bret.
