SOURCE: NOAA – Tropical Storm Bret is rapidly approaching Barbados, with heavy rainfall and strong winds expected to impact portions of the Lesser Antilles later today and tonight.
As of 200 PM AST, the storm’s center was located at latitude 13.4 North and longitude 58.9 West, approximately 45 miles east-northeast of Barbados and 140 miles east-southeast of St. Lucia.
It is moving west at 14 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph.
The government of Barbados has upgraded the Tropical Storm Watch to a Tropical Storm Warning for the island.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for St. Lucia, while Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique, Barbados, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are under a Tropical Storm Warning.
Residents in the Lesser Antilles are advised to closely monitor the progress of Bret.
