#BreakTheBias – A Clarion Call to Action for Women Across the Globe

2

Every year on March 8, we commemorate International Women’s Day. A global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

In Antigua and Barbuda, the Democratic National Alliance is the only political party with a woman as its political leader. Across the region, only 22% of Ministerial Portfolios are held by women. We have to do better – We have to #BreakTheBias.

Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.

The DNA is committed to ensuring gender parity within our own organization and advancing the rights of women and girls through modernized legislative practices that utilize gender mainstreaming to ensure inclusivity and to give women and girls the representation they deserve at the highest levels.

This year on International Women’s Day let’s work together to #BreakTheBias.

  1. Happy International Womens Day to you Madame Leader. I concur with your sentiments “We have to do better – We have to #BreakTheBias.”

Dont you dare return to any party with Lovell at the helm. Once he is gone next election, you can reconsider if you so desire. Til then, continue being the strong, beautiful, conscientious, fearless, inspiring WOMAN that you are.
