BREAKING: U.S. Supreme Court overturns protections for abortion set out in Roe v. Wade

22

The Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place for nearly 50 years in a decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade. Friday’s outcome is expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP.

The 6-3 decision, with all three liberal justices dissenting, was the culmination of decades of efforts by abortion opponents, made possible by an emboldened right side of the court that has been fortified by three appointees of now-former president Donald Trump.

The ruling came more than a month after the stunning leak of a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito indicating the court was prepared to take this momentous step.

It puts the court at odds with a majority of Americans who favoured preserving Roe, according to opinion polls.

  1. Awesome.
It’s not the court’s job to legislate just to interpret the law.
The people who are upset with the judges don’t understand that.
Hoping and praying that calmer heads will prevail going forward.
If they want or don’t want things in law they should have the appropriate discussions in society to weigh pros vs cons, truth vs fiction, etc., correctly discern the best path and then have their legislators pass laws for or against whatever it is in the best interests of society.

  2. Many of those judges lied, during their conformation hearing, when they said Roe v. Wade was settled law and should not be overturned.

    • ROE V.WADE WAS A LIE. The woman involved did say she lied. There are too many abortions conducted yearly in the USA. In 2020,where I am living had 60,000 plus abortions. That is more than half the populations of Antigua and Barbuda combined.

  3. Proverbs 6:16-23 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood

Well done USA. This is more than just a court decision. This is the beginning of a revival.

  4. Very good. By the way let’s circulate a questionnaire and ask how many people would be ok if their parents had aborted them. I’m sure those in favour wouldn’t be the majority, so why would we want that for somebody else? Yes there are cases where there is rape, incest or danger to the mother but what they don’t say is that these cases are less than 1% of all abortions. All this while the process to adopt a child is long, complicated and expensive…To further stir the pot, those making noise about systemic racism in the schools and police force don’t mention the fact that abortion kills more black babies than any other race.

  5. They lied just like the one who could not give the definition for a woman

  6. @Cool Ruler Well I guess it was “settled” until a new case forced/allowed them to look into/rule on the constitutionality of it more deeply.

  7. It’s a dangerous precedent for the US and it’s evidence of something I’ve saying all along. It’s not simply about this law but about how it got dismantled. Settled law was just overturned by the actions of politicians who can pick the final decisions of the US supreme court simply by appointing judges who are already biased. I know some folks will be celebrating this, but they are in for a rude awakening in the coming years. There is no such thing as stopping abortion. Abortion happens, period. It’s happening in every country as we speak…as it always has for eons. The only difference between abortion being legal or illegal is safety. So you will soon start to hear about women dying in America from unsafe abortion attempts. Kids are going to be orphaned just like before Roe. In some states rape and incest victims will be forced to have unwanted kids and that’s a whole can of worms by itself. Had an affair and got pregnant? You’re screwed now. Can’t afford kids but your boyfriend refuses to wear a condom? Screwed.

Doctors will also struggle to provide the best care during pregnancies where termination is the ideal for protection of the mother. Termination of pregnancy in the early stage to protect women at high risk of late term death due to secondary medical issues (like cardiopulmonary issues, eclampsia) is no longer possible in those states because the anti-abortion laws don’t take any of that into account.. Doctors will have to wait until the woman is actually in immediate danger of death before they can terminate legally. And that means mothers will die when they could have been saved months ago; maternal mortality in those cases will increase significantly. Women who suffer miscarriages will become targets for legal scrutiny, persecution and prosecution. The Roe law was the basis for many other individual rights cases in the US so things like right to contraception will become the next to fall, increasing the number of women who will need to seek abortion legal or not. Illegal abortion will increase the incidence of medical emergencies like sepsis due to retained conception products p and ectopic pregnancies. The ramifications are endless. The dark ages are back in America, folks.

    • @Eld. In my opinion, the dark ages was back when people used to perform child sacrifices for all kinds of crazy reasons that weren’t even true.

    • Eld,
If kids are left orphaned after a botched illegal abortion, they might be better off than being raised by a parent who wanted them dead that badly.
Medically necessary abortions are rare in developed countries because of advances in medical practice since the “dark ages”. Sounds like you think its too much trouble to expect doctors to try to save lives, but that’s their job isn’t it?
Nobody is going to waste their time harrassing anyone over a miscarriage.
Noone is going to ban contraception except maybe the clearly abortive ones such as the IUD.
If people choose to have abortions illegally knowing the risk to themselves when there are lots of other options e.g. get counselling and support at a crisis centre, church assistance, adoption, visit another state etc., then that is their problem.
People should stop telling rape and incest victims that they couldn’t possibly psychologically handle carrying the baby. Lots of people do it. They think of themselves as a hero for helping the little child who is also a victim of the situation be born healthily and safely. It can actually help the mother heal as opposed to encouraging her to murder someone – how does that help?
If someone has an affair and a baby results, what’s the big deal? Didn’t they choose the behaviour? So, they should be prepared for the consequences.

      • Oh and the pushy broke boyfriend who isn’t ready for a family yet should be dumped. He should get his life sorted before chasing women like men used to do back in the day. That alone would avoid a million of these abortion situations.

  8. @Eld Exaggerate much?
Most first world countries in Europe etc. have more restrictive abortion laws than the U.S. and they are hardly living in the “dark ages”. Mothers are not dying left right and center from medical complications. Actually even Americans on the left hold up Nordic North Western European countries as amazing examples of work-life balance and a balance between capitalism and socialism. Interestingly enough those countries suceed because they respect family life. E.g. they have generous maternity and paternity leaves, lots of flexible work hour options for parents, and incredibly comfortable child-centered schools for their precious children lead to top of the world passes in Math etc. Perhaps America should view this time as an opportunity to create a society with a good work-family balance for all instead of fighting for the “right” to kill more babies to save money and make themselves even richer for no reason. If they change their focus to actually supporting families and women in crisis their citizens might actually end up as high on the happiness index as some of those European countries that they admire.

    • Also it can’t be “settled” law if it was never really law. The court can’t just make up laws as they did previously, which is why they are rightfully overturning it now. They are there to interpret laws created by the people for the people via the legislators. It shouldn’t matter who appoints a judge, they should stick to applying laws that legislators create on behalf of the people. Important controversial laws should be fully debated by the people’s representatives not just forced on people through backdoor methods. In a country as diverse in lifestyle as the U.S. is from state to state, it is far more just to let each state enact its own laws on this issue rather than forcing people to support something against their will in several states.

  9. This is a useful precedent for the world as well because when America views something as a “right” they not only force it on their own citizens in different States but also on other countries. They often refuse life saving aid to countries e.g. in Africa whose people don’t agree with some of the lifestyle choices that they consider to be “rights”. It’s great that they are starting to acknowledge that each region of people has the “right” to decide for themselves e.g. through their elected representatives how they wish to govern themselves.

  10. Jumbee_Picknee smells, that these are next to be dismantled, by politicians to suit their #Ideology’s!

    A…Voting Rights
    B…Civil Rights
    C…Redistricting/Red Lining

By allowing the individual states, to have the final say, on these issues will definitely create mayhem, in many quarters in America. Couple this with the gun laws, it could be the final push towards the long awaited Civil/Race/Cultural Wars in the USA. Don’t forget, that physical BATTLES are already being fought in several of America’s inner cities.

I, am not pro abortion but the reality is, until and unless there is PARITY in the system, when it comes to Education, Healthcare(mental health in particular), Housing, and of course food, an increase in the population in the minority community’s will create more problems, than the ABORTION ISSUE.

The Congress of the USA, MUST at l ast fix education, healthcare, housing too. Otherwise, stoping a female from having an abortion, legally, which many will still find a way to get rid of a fetus(Antigua & Barbuda is an example) is not going to solve or at least address the major problems facing the American culture and society.

    • Ras Smood, I am shocked at your racist sentiments and your political naivety.
You seem to have fallen for the left’s BS lies. If you believe their propaganda and think that they are on YOUR side, you are sadly mistaken!

      • @Angel… you can shout “racist” to the Universe, all you want, I could care less.
        Again,
A… address the disparity in EDUCATION from pre-K to University.

B…address HOUSING from predatory lending to more affordable housing.

C…address HEALTHCARE from prenatal to access to advance treatments.

D…address CRIME especially white collar crimes regarding drugs, guns

Once, the authorities address ABCD, systematically, then ABORTION will be the least of the BLACK COMMUNITY issue, since, the footing of the black family (It Takes A Village) will be on solid ground, therefore, ABORTION will take a back seat.

Again shout RACIST to the Universe all you want 24/7/365. It does not change the realities, disparities in the black communities.

The ironic thing, the same US Congress will allocate trillions each year up their WAR MACHINERY to kill HUEmans for the advancement of their causes.

The naivety in me, is the fact, that I neither subscribe to LEFT, RIGHT, MIDDLE or whatever term you decide to prejudice me by. They are all clones of the same TREE/ORDER, simply different branches.

        Address the disparities in
        #EDUCATION
        #HOUSING
        #HEALTHCARE
        #EMPLOYMENT
and, abortion becomes a mute issue.

        • @Ras Smood
In America today, the average black woman is almost five times more likely to have an abortion than the average white woman.

          1) Part of this disparity owes to the fact that, statistically, black women get pregnant more frequently than white women,

          2) but even if we control for pregnancy, black babies are still more than three-and-a-half times more likely to be aborted than their white counterparts.

          3) No matter what your opinion of abortion, the fact that it disproportionality eliminates members of the minority community is a significant sociological problem. Here’s what it looks like by the numbers. According to the latest census estimates, just over 13% of the U.S. population is black,

          4) and yet somewhere between 28-38% of all U.S. abortions are performed on black babies.

Abortion in America has contributed to the greatest decline in black population since the first black slaves arrived in the Americas in the 1600s. According to U.S. census data, there were 18,871,831 black American citizens in 1960. Since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973, abortion has killed an estimated 20 million black babies — more than the entire black population of 1960.

How does this benefit the black community?

Claims that the pro-life community is a bunch of white supremacists are completely baseless. Nothing can erase the truth that abortion has been used to control the black birth rate, and Planned Parenthood has led that charge.

Only in a world of twisted logic could those working tirelessly to save black lives from abortion be called “racist” for their efforts. Only in a world of twisted logic can it be acceptable for legislators to use the race of those killed to justify their destruction.

          • @Angel…trust me! I am aware, of Margaret Sanger and Eugenics! I am aware, of the destruction caused by many systems which targets the minority community’s for annihilation.
However, this decision by the US Supreme Court is not based upon, the protections nor preservation of Minority Communities, in the USA. It’s about CONTROL, of these MINORITY COMMUNITIES in order, that they do not regain control of what, and now you can call me “racist”, again, the Supreme Court decision, at this juncture/crossroad, in the existence of the USA culture, is about the Control of Minorities to preserve the Caucasian Race. Ain’t no god except the earthly gods have anything, to do with this.

Don’t forget artificially insemination, designer test tube/petri dish babies and of course robotics/stem cells! Who determines, at what point these lives begin because they are a part, of HUEmanity too!

        • @ras. The right to life supersedes all other constitutional law,and that’s how this case was argued. I understand the other issues that face the black minority in the USA,but you must preserve life before you even get to the others. So this is a good step, and that’s what this court argument was about, it was about the first constitutional law of America. The life of me, you and all unborn children should come first (and I’m not talking about the life you live, I’m talking about blood pumping through your veins and air flowing throw your lungs). Don’t take that gift (life) that simply my brother. I read much of your articles on here and still highly respect your opinions, but I disagree with you here a little, not with all your facts (and there are many) but your seemingly nonchalant way of comparing life and death and it’s benefits. Poor/rich people will always be with us, educated/uneducated people will always be with us, but life comes first before all those things can be had. But stay bless my brother.

  11. This decision hasn’t outlawed abortion, all the supreme court did here was RETURN the to the individual STATES the power to choose. This is the way the CONSTITUTION intended that laws be made.

May God once again shine upon America now that the mass murder of (mostly black) innocent life has been reigned in

  12. The only thing on this earth that’s absolute is death, while you are alive, anything is possible, so getting pregnant and just decide to abort the pregnancy because you are in a financial bind is murder, plain and simple. Who knows if your financial situation will be the same by the time you have that baby? Someone can come in and help, your family, the government etc etc,but those options are way better than just killing the child since none of us can raise the dead, and death is absolute at that point, all the while robbing a soul from life. Abortion will not stop, but this is a good step for all unborn children. Us who are alive, must preserve life, otherwise what’s the purpose of the living?
