Lawmen have confirmed the discovery of skeletal remains yesterday.
The discovery was made in the Cades Bay area, near Urlings late Sunday afternoon. A pair of black female slippers was also found near the body.
A tourist, who was staying at South Coast Ocean apartment in Cades Bay, went on a hike in the area and made the discovery. However, the matter was not reported to the police until late Monday evening.
Police say because of poor lighting conditions, among other challenges, officers at the Bolans and Johnson’s Point police stations were only able to get to the scene on Tuesday.
The Police Forensic team have since visited the scene and took possession of the skeletal remains. Further investigations are currently ongoing.
According to reports, police are speaking with the family of a missing woman to help with identifying the body.
