Opposition Leader Ejected from Parliament After Heated Clash with Speaker
Tensions inside Parliament escalated sharply on Friday as Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle was ejected from the Lower House following a confrontation with House Speaker Osbert Frederick.
The disagreement arose after Pringle was seen reading a document, resulting in another member raising a point of order. This objection did not go down well with Pringle who quickly became irate. He accused the Speaker of being unfair.

The standoff unfolded during proceedings that had already grown tense, with repeated exchanges between Pringle and the Speaker over conduct in the chamber. The situation reached a breaking point when the Speaker ordered Pringle’s removal, bringing a sudden halt to his participation in the sitting.
The House Speaker later clarified that Pringle was not ejected just for reading but that his conduct was so egregious, it was unacceptable.
Members on both sides of the aisle looked on as the Opposition Leader was escorted out, marking one of the most contentious moments in recent parliamentary sessions.
No immediate comment was issued by either Pringle or Frederick following the incident.

Parliament is turning into a farce. With the world watching, one wonders what they think of this behaviour?
And this is just a taster before Antigua becomes an autocracy under Gaston Browne and the ABLP. Mind you we deserve everything coming our way. These people are disparaging our democratic process.
Maybe the new fledgling Antigua & Barbuda National Congress are rubbing their hands together with glee…
