PRESS RELEASE

LIAT regrets to advise the travelling public of industrial action by the members of the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA).

In the ongoing negotiations for higher wages, which includes the operation of the ATR aircraft, the pilots have taken action to refuse to fly the ATR 72 aircraft until an agreement is reached.

As a consequence of this action we have not been able to operate flights scheduled with ATR 72 aircraft at this time.

These actions have already resulted in a number of delays to our services and cancellations. LIAT has issued a Travel Advisory to its passengers and another will follow at 10:30 a.m.

LIAT’s CEO, Julie Reifer-Jones, stated “LIAT apologises for these disruptions to our passengers and their plans and wishes to reiterate its commitment to work with LIALPA to resolve any issues.”

These actions have already resulted in a number of delays and cancellations.

The following flights have been cancelled: LI 560 from St. Vincent to Barbados

LI 300 from Barbados to Tortola LI 301 from Tortola to Barbados

LI 512 from Antigua/St. Kitts/Tortola We strongly advise our passengers to contact LIAT’s Call Centre for rebooking or advice on travel.

  1. Thankful LIAT’s actions do not affect Anguilla any more. The Windward Islands Governments will have to deal with that. LIAT needs to do the noble thing and just bow out.

  2. This Airline really needs to get the hell out. Do many other airlines have tried to fly these routes and they fought them all the way now look at this. Every minute PILOTS want raise after we still paying so much money for tickets. These tickets cost more than traveling to the United States and every minute they want more money. Caribbean counties government need to get other airlines to deal with there people. Liat u already overcharging people and it look like u still want to do it some more cause when Pilot asking for raise up jump ur tickets. Look how many countries your affecting with ur mess Everytime every year this is very bad and not good business. We need to boycott your Airline and find other ways and means to get to where were going. Your service has become a grave problem in the Caribbean shame on u.

  3. Really LIAT pilots striking for a raise AGAIN.My mother would call that cutting off your nose to spite your face. It is no secret that LIAT is in financial trouble so where’s the money going to come from??
May I remind the pilots of Eastern a powerful American Airline, now defunct because their employees went on strike!!!!
