UPDATED: 1:21 PM The Soca music community is in mourning following the untimely death of renowned artist Ricardo Drue.
He was pronounced dead at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre around noon on Tuesday. Drue had been rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive.
News of his passing has left family members and members of the entertainment fraternity in shock, with many gathering at the hospital for support and to mourn the loss of the beloved artist.

The popular entertainer was found unconscious and unresponsive today.

The vibrant and accomplished Soca artist Ricardo Drue, born on July 31st, 1985, has passed away.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown at this time.
Ricardo Drue’s musical journey began in Fort Road, Antigua, before moving to Cocoyea San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, at the age of 4.
His eclectic musical influences, rooted in Soca, R&B, Hip Hop, and Reggae, shaped his distinctive sound. As one of the lead singers of the dance and vocal quartet “Crossovah,” Drue marked his entry into the music scene.
Throughout his career, Ricardo Drue shared stages with renowned artists such as Jeffrey Osbourne, Mario, Fat Joe, Sean Kingston, and Machel Montano, leaving an indelible mark.
In 2010, he embarked on a solo career, releasing albums like “Dreams of my Reality” and “MYTIME,” and earning accolades as the New Power Soca Monarch of Antigua & Barbuda in August 2014.
Within four years of his solo career, Drue achieved significant milestones, becoming a co-lead singer with the Roy Cape All Stars, a brand ambassador for Digicel Antigua & Barbuda, and having June 21st, 2014, declared as “Ricardo Drue Day” in Boston.
His hit single “Vagabond” dominated international Soca charts in 2014/15, and he secured the Power Soca Monarch title for two consecutive years.
Recently, his groovy release “Professional” on the Groove Theory riddim gained widespread acclaim in Barbados, Antigua, and Canada. With aspirations to break cultural barriers while staying true to his roots, Ricardo Drue’s future in the music industry seemed promising.
