In a shocking incident, the vehicle belonging to the journalist who broke the news of Dominican businessman Dolwin Alexander’s arrest in Antigua and Barbuda was firebombed.

Carlisle Jno Baptiste, owner of Nature Island News, expressed his sadness over the incident but vowed to continue his investigations.

The attack occurred at around 2 am, leaving the journalist’s car in ruins.

Alexander, who was detained following an Interpol notice for alleged illicit activities, was released after 48 hours and flown back to Dominica.

The arson attack highlights the potential risks faced by journalists reporting on sensitive cases.

  1. A very SINISTER development indeed, for the freedom of speech and all journalists rights to represent the public and report the news … WAKE-UP PEOPLE, WAKE-UP!!!

Can I say; that I’m surprised at this burgeoning development? Not really!

In recent times, we’ve heard even our own politicians denigrate journalists (especially female ones), just for asking them challenging and pertinent questions – which the citizens of Antigua & Barbuda are still awaiting answers.

HOPEFULLY, THIS SERIOUS INCIDENT IS AN ISOLATED ONE …

  2. This is moving Antigua into whole new and dangerous arena. Watch your backs journalist’s, this is serious stuff.
Antigua will soon be another Haiti if we’re now moved into firebombing cars.

    • This did happen in Antigua, why people like to say these about Antigua?, wait you can’t read?
It’s just a shame to see individuals will say anything about Antiguan just because the party they support is in opposition. Sickening. Anigua is a blessed country

      • @Drifted Wood: Every Country is a Blessed Country.Even bad and obnoxious things happened in Blessed Countries.

    • Just to clarify, This firebombing incident took place in Dominica, to the owner/journalist from “nature island news” in Dominica.

  3. I saw a video a few days ago on ANR of an armed robbery at Little Canton Supermarket.
3 or 4 young men entered with guns and began taking the cash. A few of them were caught by the Chinese men. One young man that was being held down by 2 Chinese had 3 full bottles of wine broken over his head while being held down the 2 men. The video was removed within minutes of posting from all media platforms.. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THIS ON ANR ON JULY 5TH?
    .

  4. If there was an Interpol warrant for his arrrest. Why did Antigua send him back to Dominica? Something is wrong and smells like a dead dog.Did Antigua and Dominica acted in concert to send him back? Remember, both Nations were involved and acted in concert with that Mehul Choksi matter. If that plane was not late landing in Dominica,Choksi woulda garne a yard.I am awaiting an Official Report from the Ministry of FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND IMMIGRATION,in this matter.

    • What a thing, the man is a national of Dominica, he was sent back to his country to be processed. Am convinced that some of you don’t have nothing to do except to wait around to see what pop up on news media and the social platform just to have something negative to say. You can’t bring this country down

      • Drifted Wood: It would appear you do not have a clue as to how an Interpol Arrest Warrant works. He should not have been sent back to Dominica after being arrested in Antigua. If you only had a brain, your name would not be DRIFTED WOOD.

    • Yes, it’s a interesting one for sure, I would think if he was in hiding and now appeared, either authorities in Antigua or Dominica would hold on to him. Could it be a jurisdiction issue? since he was not found in a french territory? Maybe someone with a legal background can give us an explanation. The arrest warrant was attached in the article.

  5. The negativity about Antigua is sooooooo sickening for me. Ya’ll need to stop. Are we so much more worse than other countries, or is it because our party of choice is in opposition. We do a lot of speculation about things we do not have all the information for and call it news. We better be careful.

  6. He should have been held in Antigua and be extradited to Guadeloupe. There is where the crimes were done.He should not have been sent back to Dominica.

  7. This is a rather odd sequence of events and I would dearly love to her the local police version of it. You arrest a visiting non nation on an Interpol notice only to release him and send him back to his home base for them to “process him there’ whatever that means. Did Interpol cancel the notice of arrest? It is strange given that Interpol issued the notice for his arrest that he wasn’t held pending extradition to the French West Indies where is is wanted on various charges. This whole things “smells” and once gain Antigua seem to be at the thick of things. Reports coming out of Roseau is that this man is a man with contact in high places and is untouchable. Just waiting to see how this one plays out.

  8. Driftwood u have your nose so far up gaston demon brown rear that u can tell what he has for dinner yesterday, you’re just an idiotic opportunist.
