The young man who was being questioned by police following what has been described as the suspicious death of his girlfriend has been released from custody.

Antigua News Room (ANR) understands that the young man was released Wednesday afternoon. He was taken into custody after the body of Alana Lloyd was discovered on her bedroom floor with an electrical cord tied around her neck.

Her mother, a primary school teacher, made the grim discovery about 3:30 pm on Tuesday after returning home from school.

The young man was allegedly heard on a voice message, which has been circulating social media and WhatsApp, blaming himself for what happened to the 18-year-old. Also, he posted a note on Facebook in which he appeared to be threatening to end his own life.

“Baby we gonna be together in a sec,” the post read with a crying face emoji at the end. Friends then began replying with messages dissuading the man from doing anything drastic.

Lloyd was pronounced dead sometime after 5 pm.

Police continue to probe the death, and a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the Jennings New Extension teen.

  1. Lord please to be with this family in this there time of grief. Please to help them, cover them in your protective arms. Lord please to comfort them.

    • Sad indeed- People need more God in their Lives, not church but a personal knowledge/relationship with Jesus Christ,so when they face circumstances that seem too much to bear, they can turn to that relationship for strength.
