The United Progressive Party spokesman on National Security has made his party’s position on protest action clear.

Sherfield Bowen says the UPP will secure the people’s right to protest, not trample on it.

  1. So you know how to vote now. A vote for the UPP is a vote against public health and in favor of continued increase in covid cases, deaths and strain on the health service. It’s also a vote in favor of conspiracy nuts and trump supporters. Demand better

    • Yes I know how to vote now and will be voting for the UPP to get rid of Gaston and his self-enriching men and women. This administration is the worse since independence.

      • No wonder before Covid the country’s economy has been growing an average of 5% each year. Guess they are doing such a bad job that they bought WIOC and brought us the fourth Landed Campus of the University of the West Indies. And now we are building the most modern port in the OECS and perhaps the entire Caribbean.

      • Kinta I’ve voted UPP in the past but if they remain on their current path, I cannot vote for them again. They have no path, no direction.

        NOW they want to come up with this? They are not proactive, they are reacting and as we know….when there is no vision, the people perish.

  3. It is very nice to see your face. You should NOT be running for POLITICAL office. You should be ASHAMED of yourself. You must learn to protect WOMEN’S RIGHTS first.

  5. St Lucians thought that chastenet”s approach to covid was too rigid and they opt to vote in a new government. Look what now happening cases escalating further, curfew hours are even tighter and there are no movement days. Further the country is on level 4 which is damning to their tourism product. For anyone to fall for what #HFWL and his bunch of LLCs is doing in playing emotional politics will have a lot to regret. Think down the road what your so called freedom will likely bring under them if covid is still out there. Choose a man wisely….don’t go with the man based on emotions only!!!!!

    • I too am very disappointed. He should’ve been made to leave the party. Another reason why the party is so divided.

      Let a gay person or someone that is perceived to be gay or lesbian run for office and we will rail up against that, but someone with his crime run for office and he’s allowed.

  13. Bowen you guys are so lost that its shameful, UPP is the party that allows protest he claims, but I recall when in office they hindered quite a few. Eugene Humpreys experienced denials and even got a good beating by a few offiicers of our police force. Vere Bird the III and Galloway were locked up. Interestingly there was no state of emergency. These so called freedom marchers breached our laws via a illegal protest. Its telling that the UPP for political expediency is willing to put the life and safety of our people at risk
