Booby Alley housing project to be handed over by October, Browne says

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the China-funded housing development at the former Booby Alley site will be completed and handed over by October as an Independence gift.

The update came during a walkthrough of the project with a visiting Chinese delegation.

The development includes nine buildings with 150 condominium units. External painting and internal tiling have been completed, while installation of windows and doors is about 90% finished.

Project representatives said remaining internal work is expected to be completed by June, with external works and a sewage treatment facility scheduled for August.

Mr Browne said the government is seeking several adjustments before the handover, including provisions for propane gas supply, shared waste disposal facilities, and the acquisition of nearby land for a multi-million-gallon water storage tank.

Landscaping is due to begin by the end of June and will include flowering plants and fruit trees as part of a wider food security initiative.

During the visit, the prime minister also extended greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping and said he plans to visit China early next year to strengthen bilateral ties.

Mr Browne described the project as a major social transformation effort, replacing substandard housing with modern condominium units for low-income residents.

  1. It was scheduled for June now it’s October.
OK! One question, will one of the buildings be housing Chinese ONLY?

  2. If Gaston is out of power it will truly be handed over to the booby alley resident people, other wise if Gaston get back in those rooms will be taken over and run Airbnb like how Gaston fenced enclave on dredge bay beach, Gaston don will get a lot a room down booby alley for his hotel project, Gaston go curse off booby alley people and say they don’t deserve to live there.
Vote UPP and get your Justice.

  3. I really hope that they are properly maintained. Maintenance seems to be one of our biggest problems in Antigua. I know some nasty people will be moving back to the area with their old ways, I hope that can be addressed and they can have some sort of standard for the area.

  4. What are we giving up for all these goodies from the Chinese? The thing is; not a single member of the Party knows, maybe except Pixie who might be given bits and pieces of info at times. This is really a one-man show. I hope that it’s not going to be too late by the time we found out.
