According to the consulate, it has been speaking with and assisting the family of Dashawn ‘Taka’ Stanton, 26, who died at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre following a brief period of illness.

Stanton lived in Antigua and Barbuda for the last five years pursuing his football career.

He died on Aug. 26 after he was placed in a medically induced coma to assist his recovery from an infection in his brain. He started experiencing severe headaches on Aug.14.

A private ceremony will be held in his memory on Sept. 18.
