Body of Jamaican footballer Dashawn ‘Taka’ Stanton to be flown home this weekend

The body of the Jamaican footballer who died in Antigua last month will be repatriated on Sept. 19, the Jamaican consulate here has announced.

According to the consulate, it has been speaking with and assisting the family of Dashawn ‘Taka’ Stanton, 26, who died at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre following a brief period of illness.

Stanton lived in Antigua and Barbuda for the last five years pursuing his football career.

He died on Aug. 26 after he was placed in a medically induced coma to assist his recovery from an infection in his brain. He started experiencing severe headaches on Aug.14.

A private ceremony will be held in his memory on Sept. 18.
