Biometric clocks to be installed at various Ministries to track overtime payments

The Cabinet approved the installation of Biometric clocks at various Ministries, especially those where overtime is paid to employees.

The manual system of calculating overtime and hours spent beyond the 8-hour day has proven to be inefficient. 

The Biometric clocks will not only calculate the number of hours spent on the job daily but will, at the end of a pay period, determine how many hours and at what rate the employee is to be paid overtime.

The state-of-the-art clock and computer system is virtually error proof and very accurate; the cost of acquisition and installation is also quite reasonable.

The use of Biometric clocks in many countries is spreading.

  1. No system is error proof, so I do hope when errors start popping up, your tech team and pay roll is ready.

  2. If someone just hangs around the office until after hours and waves their finger or whatever at that time, they automatically get overtime monies? Accurately recording when people come and go doesn’t mean they actually did any extra work… This sort of system would only make sense for a customer service job such as cashier etc. where the job is based on time not duties. Why not just pay based on agreed duties done instead? If duties are given beyond the normal and both employee and boss agree that it will require extra time then pay based on that agreement.
