The Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit has given a glowing vote of confidence to his counterpart, Antigua’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne.
Speaking at the closing news conference of the OECS Authority meeting which ended here today, Skerrit said, “the region is better off with people like Gaston Browne leading our countries.”
The comment is likely to fly in the face of opposition critics who see Browne as dictatorial and who strongly disagree with his economic policies and priorities.
But Skerrit told the local and regional media that PM Browne has been “very firm and very resolute, decisive and principled voice on many regional an international issues.”
Skerrit was at the time congratulating Browne on assuming the chairmanship of the OECS. He also praised the Antigua and Barbuda leader for how he conducted the meetings saying that they were “constructive and focused.”
Skerrit is the leader of the Dominica Labour Party which is seeking a fourth consecutive term in office.
He said he wasn’t praising Browne because of their friendship but because “in this world, we really need principled, forthright, transparent governments and leaders in particular.”
He added, “had it not been for reasoned voices like Gaston Browne I think the region and the hemisphere would be in a more difficult position.”

Question to Skerrit what happy to the monies from the concert at Sir. Viv Richards Stadium? Skerrit all I need you to do while you praising the dictator, take a trip over to Barbuda two year after hurricane Maria and tell the public how great thou art, ask your so call friend what happen to Barbuda hurricane monies. So while you getting all the donor countries money too rebuild Dominica, our beloved Barbuda is at a standstill because the same man you praising a cuss off donor countries. I love when other leaders push the play ground bully in front with his loose tongue and sit back and reap all the benefits from the hurricane. You come Antigua praising our oppressor while the people of Dominica looking to get rid of you. Must be a Labour party disease around the caribbean to support evil.

You have no other choice but to follow behind him, after all you did get goods from the Hurricane donation that was destined for Barbuda. It appears that the wind not only took your house roof but also your independent common sense.
Buoy dis praise mussa bun unnu bad. No matter what our PM does, there are people that will NEVER see anything good. The PM of Dominica has nothing to gain…..however all those singing from the oposition sanky will have at max, another 48 months to keep the choir going.
It disappoints me to see that our people cannot free their minds of politics for one minute. Instead, they rather write folly to deceive others. A Prime Minister of the regions comments our Prime Minister and rather than for us to recognize our own, we rather degrade the regional leader – Alex N De-Azle: you writing is done in poor taste.
Our leader may not be perfect but he sure stands out amount other regional and international leaders. As the old saying goes, we must give jack his jacket.
