  1. Pressure sores are always underestimated. They develop real quick and It is extremely difficult to get them to heal when a patient continues to be incapacitated as it is a challenge to keep them off the area without risking others developing.
No good playing the blame game on who is responsible for them developing. Just focus on further prevention and ultimate cure.
I had a patient that came into my care tgat had 16 pressure sores- heels, ankles, knees, hips, sacrum, sacroiliac joints and his entire shoulder blade. It took years of diligent care to get them healed. After about 20years, yes that’s right, 20 long years, I got the last one healed even though Dr’s had stated it would be virtually impossible.
A healthy diet, drinking lots and lots of water each and every day, turning every 2hours without fail, alternating pressure mattress, copious amounts of patience and a positive attitude.
We flushed the wounds with warm salt water, used Duoderm hydro active gel and/or occlusive dressings and just kept turning him!
Do not underestimate a decubitus ulcer (pressure sore) – they can develop in less than a week, last a lifetime and the complications that come with having them can result in life threatening results if not dealt with immediately.
    Stay strong and positive.
