NODS Director Philmore Mullin

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) today began cleaning up the Barrymore Hotel to make way for the accommodation of a number of Barbudans who were displaced following the passage of Hurricane Irma.

According to Director of NODS Philmore Mullin, engineers from the Public Works Department carried out an assessment of the building earlier this week and found a host of health and safety violations as a direct result of a number of Barbudans who have been living on the premises illegally for years.

Mullin made it quite clear that the responsibility of NODS at this time is to take care of those persons who were affected by the hurricane and not those Barbudans who have been living and working in Antigua.
