Barbudans move out of Nurses Hostel

6

The National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) at Nugent Avenue is now the only official shelter for Barbudan evacuees being operated by the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).

The majority of the 122 persons, who were staying at the Nurses Hostel, have returned to Barbuda. Thirty-three (33) special cases are being accommodated at the NTTC, bringing the number at that shelter to 62.

Based on a report today (Tues.) from Barbuda, nine individuals are staying at the Sporting Complex on the sister-isle – one of the designated shelters for returning Barbudans, while the others have found alternative accommodations.

Meanwhile, NODS is reporting that items have been discovered missing from the Sporting Complex and there has also been the theft of batteries from generators earmarked to several buildings. The office is awaiting a report on the matter.

In the meantime, a report has been made to the Police.

  1. Well, it is about time that the police move out of the fisheries building in Barbuda! How can people sleep and live in a place designed to store food! Come on, man!

  2. Oh well fled cant go up there no more great well he can move to barbuda these are the guys that have upp in this state …bunch of low lives

  3. And they will stay there forever and ever until the government has the fortitude to do the right thing and not the political thing. You cannot operate a shelter for that long. People have to take responsibility of their own life. The mercy period is over. Many people have it hard in this country and do not get a handout such as these. Are they special citizens. they fall into an different bracket. “Handle with care”. We are creating monsters I can tell you. People who believe they are entitle to everything in life and do not have to work for it. The government has to give it to them whatever they ask for.
    Sad. very sad.

  4. From the sideline your day will come don’t worry. Careful !! Barbuda has been robbed by the ALP for years.
