The Barbuda Council Responds to Solicitor General’s Letter attempting to Circumvent the Constitution of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Barbuda Council represents the people of Barbuda who are the owners of the lands of Barbuda.

The ongoing plan of the Gaston Browne Administration to use the Land Adjudication Act and other laws that do not supersede the Local Government Act to unilaterally register and sell the People’s land will not be accepted or allowed.

The Barbuda Local Government Act (1976) as amended and entrenched in the Constitution of Antigua and Barbuda empowers the Barbuda Council with responsibility to Administer the island of Barbuda.

  1. If you know that you took money and or gifts from PLH and others with the promise of freehold lands in Barbuda, you’d be better off coming clean now, before they go public. For The Love Of Money Is The Root Of All Evil.

    • I did not consider this previously, but you hit it right on the head. Promises, now panic. Our government just doesn’t think before they act.

  2. I do not wish for this to happen. However,I do believed that a Barbudan. Would be doing serious damage to a Politician from Antigua.

  3. I have so much respect and admiration for the citizens of Barbuda.

Fellow Antiguans watch and observe how they don’t take no circumventing from this antiquated, ‘sell out to the rich’, government!

Mind you, the way some of the UPP are now taking Gaston Browne and the ABLP to task, there might be some Barbudan “generational” blood coursing through their veins. 😁

    ALL THE BEST BARBUDAN’S ✊🏾

  4. They will lose on every front. They don’t have the right to prevent the crown from selling lands in Barbuda. It is now law that can criminally penalize anyone who wishes to obstruct such a process. Let’s watch and see.

    • The reality is that Barbudans are fighting is a repeat of The Enrichment Minister who circumvented Antigua with a veteran surveyor and identity all remaining crown lands adjacent to the shoreline in Antigua.

Within months the land titles were transferred to the Enrichment Minister ownership.

This new move on Barbuda is because The Barbuda Council rejected Murbee request for 300 acre at River adjacent to Dulcina on behalf of the Enrichment Minister.

The plan is turn it over the 300 plus acres to the Eastern Europeans CIP oligarchs to brand a Roosewood Resorts and sell of the land for USD $4.0 million per lot.

A massive kickback to the Enrichment Minister family is what being kickoff with this announcement about Barbuda lands.

Follow the breadcrumbs….. That’s why Darwin Telemaque from the Port earlier this week announced he is going to Barbuda to assess the Dock at River.

This is a take over and sell off, not you who are cheering, but to those who are waiting to turn Barbuda into another apartheid like some areas of Antigua, while the Enrichment schemes marginalized you as you fight for the crumbs

      • Many thanks for updating and highlighting the issues that Barbudans face from greed and double-dealing.

This takeover move is going to be to the detriment of the islanders, and I foresee a long hard legal fight, but unlike we Antiguans, the Barbudan’s always fight a very good fight.

I have travelled to Barbuda many times, and returned with money in my pocket.

However, once the super and uber rich takeover, I’ll be lucky to return with any trousers 👖

        A RICH MAN’S PLAYGROUND. NEVER!

BTW @ Barbuda J’aime, I know you are very focused on what’s going on in Barbuda, but I’m curious to know if how you feel things are going here in Antigua.

Do you feel that we’ve awaken at last?

I feel a political awareness right now, that’s been missing for decades, and change is coming …

        • @Brix, How are things going in Antigua? We are not just asleep, its like we have been drugged.
Take “Aviation in Antigua and Barbuda” which tells a big part of the story.
          (a) LIAT(2020) Ownership and
          (b) Lesroy Browne’s an aviation professional, and former member of LIAT board; wrote an article in Observer about LIAT and aviation in the Caribbean.
First: Chet Greene, Foreign Minister (not The Minister of Aviation) went to Nairobi and signed the LIAT(2020) ownership agreement.
Antigua and Barbuda will own 30% of LIAT(2020) and
          Air Peace will own 70%
Antigua has taken over the $60 million loan with Caribbean Development Bank for 2 aircraft that were in the LIAT (1974) fleet as the other Eastern Caribbean governments wash their hands of LIAT.
In addition to the $60 million loan obligations, Antigua is spending another $20 million to rebuild and upgrade two other LIAT (1974) planes that were out of commission.
The Antigua government will put $80 million into LIAT(2020)
On the other hand, Air Peace has promised 2 small jet planes that are leased.
In addition Air Peace will buy LIAT hanger (WHY?)
Antiguans have not asked Chet Green and or Gaston Browne how on earth can Air Peace get 70% and Antigua people only get 30% of LIAT(2020)
          From all appearances AIR PEACE
is holding the bag for for 45 to 50% that is owned by others.

NONE of the preceding makes sense from an outside financial perspective.
How can Air Peace get 70% with a minimum of investment ?
Why is LIAT hanger as well as other physical assets being sold off to Air Peace?
Some saying they want to see the contract. Seeing the contract means little.
Seeing the contract and not the side agreement that tells who are parties who owns what appears to be up to 50% hidden ownership, then you have been forewarned.
It will not be long before you hear 40 to 50% of LIAT(2020) has been sold.
You read it here in the comments column of ANR first while the slumber continues.

Please don’t kill the messenger for I have not addressed LIATs brand value and goodwill in the marketplace; which should be worth 25% of the value Antigua is putting on the table.

    • I have a lot of friends went to City University. My friends who have pass through the halls of the various City University buildings would not make such uninformed declarations as you have.
First: The Privy Council Ruling did not consist of just the one Paragraph which says its crown land. The ruling gave Barbudans rights to the land. Go read the ruling it’s still on the internet.
What you the others don’t know; most of Barbuda is below sea level.
The environment is such it will be impaired by any large scale development. That’s among the things Barbudans are fighting for.

PLH had to abandon the first site for the airport where they excavated over a cave.
The same institution The Privy Council that determined it was Crown land, also gave Barbadans the right to question government actions legally.
If Broadway is a two way street above Columbus Circle, you can’t drive up Broadway at Union Square Maybe one day.
My obscure point is: Picking and choosing narrow arguments are what the politicians do; and it gets parroted by people like you

Both Privy Council ruling gave Barbudans rights that are not discussed, so the ALBP parrots likecuoubpick and choose in their favour.

The Solicitor General apprenticed under Hessie who did not always follow Lester Bird’s orders.

Unfortunately he has continued to make unforced errors as he did when he threatened John Mussington with a letter to prosecute him for opening up the beach at Barbuda Cottages.

Be informed if you continue to comment on Barbuda, for I’ll be on your case Dr. Ray

  5. First LIE: the people of Barbuda are NOT the owners of the lands!!! When will Trevor Walker aka BROWN PAPERBAG stop feeding lies to the people????

  6. All the Barbuda Council has to do is TAKE THE MATTER TO COURT!!! 🙄 😴 😑 😒 😐 🤦

All the way to the Privy Council. Hire Justin Simon to take the case. Easy win 😆

    • @ Smh, it sounds like you have a hatred of Barbudan’s and their rightful ownership to Barbuda and destiny for future generations to come.

Let’s wait and see what happens with the Privy Council.

This isn’t as cut and dried as you and the sad likes of Dave Ray thinks!

      WATCH THIS SPACE …

      • It’s not hatred. It’s the crumbs snatchers at work. They are Gatson fans on the Government payroll with no-show jobs. This is their job.

They got to deliver the vitriol and the propaganda in order for them to feel relevant.

    • Read the ruling. Read the Privy Council ruling. If you are able to comprehend the document, you will not continue to make yourself seem illiterate.

It clearly says that Barbuda lands are Crown land and not fee simple owners It further says have unlimited tenure.
Should the government want any Barbuda family’s land they have the right to take it through compulsory.
PLH sold land for $4.5 million per plot of 1/4 acre that comes with infrastructure, a golf course and a private air port that may never be opened.

Barbudans may be able to get $3 to 4 Millions per acre for land they now use.

Let his r**s and Cutie and Camacho come; Barbudans will have the last laugh.

  7. It’s interesting when LIAT (2020) proposed ownership is commented on; all the Gastonites follow Old Man Bird advise. When the dog bark the donkey moves on.
As Hammer says: “can’t touch this”

Nothing but a bunch of immortal hypocrites. Hope you all are in church begging forgiveness.
