POINTE XPRESS NEWSPAPER: The Barbuda Council has decided not to attend today’s meeting with the Cabinet to discuss a ten-point agenda covering important issues.
According to the Cabinet notes, the Joint Coordinating Committee, which includes the Barbuda Council and Cabinet members, was expected to meet on Thursday, October 10th.
The meeting was intended to cover ten significant matters, such as the expansion of renewable energy, the construction of a new primary school, the allocation of $15 million for road improvements, and the implementation of a ban on the export of sand from both Antigua and Barbuda for domestic use only.
According to the notes, the Barbuda Council has requested an indefinite postponement.
The notes also disclosed that the Antigua and Barbuda parliament is likely to enact the ban into law due to the environmental damage caused by the large-scale removal of sand from Barbuda.
An environmental expert provided an assessment of the amount of sand extracted over the past 50 years and the impracticality of continuing this practice even for a short period.
The expert highlighted the impact of sand removal on freshwater aquifers, sand dunes reaching heights of 12 to 14 feet, and the damage to coral reefs, which help reduce wave energy during storms and ground swells.
“The Cabinet has therefore agreed to prohibit the fishing of parrot fish, as they contribute significantly to the creation of the sand that covers the 62 square miles of land in Barbuda,” reported the spokesperson.
In a related development, the Cabinet discussed the accomplishments of Barbuda, particularly the opening of the Barbuda International Airport, which is expected to be renamed the Burton-Nibbs International Airport.
The Cabinet noted the absence of the Barbuda Council at the opening ceremony, where more than 400 individuals filled all the seats set up on the tarmac for the event.
Additionally, over five aircraft were parked on the tarmac, bringing in more than 120 people for the ceremony.
The Cabinet deemed it a historic moment for the twin island state.
The Cabinet also acknowledged that several new projects are slated to commence in the upcoming year, including the construction of a deep-water harbor capable of accommodating cargo ships carrying multiple containers. It is highly likely that the new pier will be located in a different area than the current dock.

Barbuda Council once again is being outmaneuvered by Gaston and his crew.
It was not to long ago members of the Council posed for a photo after having met with Gaston and Cabinet while they stated an intent to work together with The Cabinet and Gaston.
The Council was looking for the monies which they think is owed to Barbuda. Gaston and his Cabinet left them with the impression that the money that they are looking for was authorized to be spent on the airport and in the future it will be spent on further development projects.
In the background for Gaston was the opening ceremony of the airport, and the plan to build roads through Barbudan farmland to increase the land holding of the Murbee plans for a massive development branded and managed by Rosewood Resorts.
One needs to take into account it was Auther Nibbs as Chairman of the Barbuda Council who gave the Dulcina Hotel to the Prime Minister’s wife. It was Auther Nibbs as Chairman of The Council who rubber stamped the wishes of the ABLP.
We were told that the naming of the airport was done after extensive consultation when neither the Burton family or the Barbuda Council has any clue whose name would be on the airport.
The Burton family subsequently rejected the naming of their father.
Why?
First: Auther Nibbs and Burton were mortal enemies going back to the Lancaster House negotiations were Burton was pursuing an associate state status similar to Nevis
Secondly: Auther Nibbs gave away the Dulcina Hotel to Maria Bird Brown to curry favour with Gaston Brown. The deal to allow lease payments that should have gone to The Barbuda Council, to be diverted to finance the construction of the airport; was done by whom as Chairman of the Barbuda Council?
In addition the so called Rosewood Resort to be built in the Dulcina lands of 15 acres has been seeking permission from The Barbuda Council for a development that consist of over 150 acres.
The Roosewood Resort proposal consists of over 100 acres of the Burton family cattle and vegetable farm.
An intriguing story among many of the reasons why the Burton family rejected their fathers name associated with both the airport and Auther Nibbs
Of equal significance is that the new Barbuda roads that has been promised are to accommodate the Roosewood Resorts master plan.
The Rosewood Master Plan requires tge taking away of The Burtons and other Barbuda family lands. The master plan calls for relocating the roads adjacent to the ferry docks and cut through Burton Farmland, handing over to Murbee the Bulgarians and Roosewood hundred of acres that have been utilized by Barbudans for their economic benifits.
The Master Plan for the Roosewood development, is being financed by two Bulgarian CIP investors.
The Burtons have been farming vegetables on the low lying area known for producing vine vegetables like squashes and pumpkins while utilizing the other portions for cattle farming
Ironically Roosewood proposes to create an organic farm exactly where the Burton vegetable farm existed.
The Bulgarians has extended invitations to The Council to visit Eastern Europe for a tour of the type of Port they will build for Barbuda should they be successful in obtaining the lands to be confiscate the vegetables growing portion of the land increase the former Dulcina Hotel lands.
The irony of this is that Gaston Brown on behalf of Murbee, (his family members) the Bulgarians, and Rosewood Resorts are attempting to confiscate The Burtons at el lands including the beach land on both side of the ferry dock while pretending it’s all about economic development.
The Barbuda Council is being out played by Gaston Brown, Murbee and the Bulgarians.
Given that these actions are contrary the most previous Privy Council ruling
one can expect this will not go down as smoothly as Gaston is expecting.
Rather than stating how many planes landed and how many attended the opening ceremonies of the Barbuda International AirPort; why was the airport referred to as The Barbuda International AirPort at The Ceremony?
Part 2 to follow
they have to do whatever Trevor “BROWN PAPERBAG” Walker commands them to do!
where is the REPORT from the findings of the so-called Human Resources Audit commissioned by the BARBUDA COUNCIL? Was it $50,000 that was paid to some “expert” and up to now NO REPORT???? wah can go so????
wonder if a certain self-proclaimed “patriot” knows anything about that?
The Barbuda Council really thinks they can Stahl the work of the government with their behavior. And when decisions are taken they will scream say they were not consulted. Well I hope Gaston repeats the same word of Baldwin to them: “Whether I consult with Tom, Dick or Harry, in the end Ah fuh me decision.’ All they want to be are obstructionists. They never negotiate in good faith. Wicked set of People.
