For immediate release.

Barbuda Council reminds the Barbudan Community to continue to strictly follow the Pandemic Protocols as the number of persons testing positive have increased.

The increase in the number of persons testing positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Barbuda continues to be of concern to the Barbuda Council.

This number is relatively large when the size of the community is taken into consideration.

Additionally, the situation is made more serious due to the lack of capacity of the islands lone hospital to adequately cope with the situation.

The Council wishes to dispel any suggestion that it has enforced a vaccine mandate on its employees.

The members will be meeting shortly to discuss the current situation and to plan its responses taking into consideration its powers under the Barbuda Local Government Act (1976).

Until then Council reminds the Barbudan community that as cases escalate in Antigua we must be responsible and protect ourselves by adhering to the Covid-19 protocols that have been in effect since the start of the pandemic.

This will ensure the safety of all.
