Barbados, Trinidad rattled by earthquakes

CMC – An early morning earthquake rattled parts of Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage and injuries.

The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies said that the quake, with a magnitude of 4.0, occurred at 2:14 am and was located at latitude: 11.00N and longitude: 62.22W.

It was at a depth of 79 kilometres.

SRC said that the quake was felt in Port of Spain, the eastern town of Arima as well as Carúpano in Venezuela.

The SRC also reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred on Monday night, 100 km North West of Bridgetown, Barbados.
