BAHAMAS- Seven Americans, including well known billionaire killed in helicopter crash

Seven people  – all US citizens, were  killed when a helicopter crashed about two miles off Grand Cay in the Abacos on Thursday.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported  that the helicopter took off from Big Grand Cay around 2:00 am (local time)  on Thursday, en route to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The aircraft was reported missing to the Royal Bahamas Police Force at about 2:53pm on Thursday when it did not arrive at the intended destination.

Police officers and residents of Grand Cay, later discovered the aircraft overturned in 16 feet of water, off Grand Cay.

The bodies of four females and three males were retrieved from the aircraft.

One of the men has been identified as coal billionaire and philanthropist from the state of West Virginia, Chris Cline, 60.

His daughter was also killed .

In a statement, the  Royal Bahamas Police Force said that they are investigating the tragedy along with officials from the Department of Civil Aviation and the Defense Force.

  1. Bahamas is starting to sound like the Dominican republic. Everyday for the past couple weeks the media have been reporting of deaths of American tourists in the DR.
