BAHAMAS-Prime Minister to undergo surgery


Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis is to undergo “minor” surgery on Wednesday, according to an official statement issued here Tuesday.

The statement from the Office of the Prime Minister gave no indication as to the nature of the surgery saying only that Prime Minister Minnis, a medical practitioner, will undergo the surgery at the Princess Margaret Hospital.


Minnis led his Free National Movement (FNM) to office in the May 10 general elections last year, winning all but four of the 39 seats in the Parliament.

The statement said that Deputy Prime Minister K. Peter Turnquest, will be  Acting Prime Minister until Friday.
