Law enforcement authorities have seized one million US dollars in cash and arrested two people carrying out searches at a house in the capital early on Monday.
In a statement, the police said that they had discovered the one million dollars in the residence and that while no arrest had been made during the first search, a second search a few hours resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs and the arrest of two Bahamians.
It said that during the second search, the members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Rapid Response Unit, “discovered hidden in the ceiling a duffle bag containing a large quantity of suspected marijuana and suspected hashish”.
The police said that the estimated weight of the hashish seized is 9.80lbs and has a street value of US$20,000, while the 45.3lbs of marijuana found had a street value of over US$45,000.
