Attacking Saints Crown Warriors Cup champions
Favourites Attacking Saints duly captured the Warriors Cup championship trophy as they defeated Earthquake 1-0 on Tuesday at Mack Pond, All Saints.
The home team took an early lead through Malone Joseph and held on to clinch the round-robin pre-season tournament title. Joseph steered the ball past the stranded goalkeeper after he was sent clear on seven minutes.
Saints, who along with Earthquake entered the match tied on six points each, staved-off the Fort Road-based side who fought gamely for an equalizer.
Goalkeeper-of-the-tournament Jahkefie Jeffers saved the Saints on a few occasions as he was forced to block goal-bound attempts while his defenders stood firm against Earthquake’s rumblings.
Earlier, Young Lions of Old Road took third place after defeating Young Warriors 3-0 thanks to a brace from Zavier Joseph who finished joint top goal scorer with three strikes along with Saints’ Prince Walter who was also named the Warriors Cup top player.
