Asot Michael Could See A Return As Minister

St. Peter Asot Michael could rejoin the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said.

Browne made the statement with the caveat that there are no legal issues outstanding.

Michael resigned from the Gaston Browne administration last year.

Browne told Observer Radio Michael great asset to the government and the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) who made tremendous contributions to Antigua and Barbuda.

“Unfortunately, he has a legal issue he has to dispense [with] and as soon as he is able to do so we look forward to his return to the government to make his contribution,” he said.

The prime minister said he regretted the decision but it had to be done in the interest of integrity.

“He may feel that he has been displaced but we have to run a government and integrity and I hope he understands that this has not lessened my thoughts against him,” Browne said.

Late last year, Michael threatened to quit elective politics if the constituency he represents continues to be neglected.

During his contribution to the 2019 Budget Debate, the embattled MP said his constituents were not getting their fair share of the resources allocated to community development in the state, regardless of which of the two main political parties forms the government.

The prime minister’s dismissive response was: “That was total theatrics. Asot Michael isn’t going anywhere.”

At the same time, Browne sought to give the reassurance that the provision of certain services within Michael’s constituency would be expedited.

  1. Hmmmmmmm, I hope this matter of integrity is not for some but for all. The PM constituency is looking really good. Nah talk bout the roads. Potters village and others are in dire need of road repairs.

  2. LOL@ Melchisedec. Yes I observed that too. I guess Asot is trying to stay relevant, so he needs people to know that he attended a funeral and what he said. Even news of his mother’s recovery from illness made the news. LOL. Politics is all about marketing.

I do agree with the first post. Mr. Michael is apparently poison. He is desperate, lonely, and has a shitty attitude. He needs to listen to that speech he gave in the Parliament after he praised God for sparing his life after his bout with that illness.

  3. Asot is clearly the most loved/hated person in the ALBP. A worker by nature and one who isn’t afraid to use the Michael’s fortune to stay relevant. From sponsoring artists, to almost single handedly carrying the election purse, the ABLP owes much to Asot. Many secrets lies therein also and he would not be pleased that he is out in the wilderness and other accomplice’s, Robin the Hood & Lester are there enjoying the fruits of his labour. With all that the Prime Minister says, Asot will feel that he is being unnecessarily left out in the cold after all he has done for the party. The wilderness life is killing him and he can’t stand being there much longer. Others have done worse and is not being punished like he was. He would not be pleased at his non appearance in Cabinet for so long and would at some point in time give the PM a nice private ultimatum…… give me Ministerial position, OR ELSE. Mark my words…it is coming.

  4. “He dat is without sin cast the first stone”
    Do you remember that script……….?
All of them have their dirty little corrupt practices and it’s just a matter of time before they all get expose one by one!!! Asot is a good man and even if he is crooked, at least he helps his ppl, unlike some of these bullshitters in the cabinet.

If I was him I would’ve walked away completely from Gaston and his ungrateful ways!!
