Source- Real News Antigua: Another daring daylight robbery, this one in Piggots, has left the business owner shaken, as she was assaulted by two armed robbers.

Reports say that a Skerritts Pasture resident, the proprietor of Jackie’s Superette on the Piggots Main Road, was in her business place alone on March 8, at about 11:55 a.m., when two masked men held her at gunpoint. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP

Further reports say that a man –about 6 feet tall, with a slim build, of a dark complexion, and wearing a black mask and black gloves, ran into the shop carrying an orange flare gun.

He immediately made his way behind the counter, where the owner was, and placed the gun to her forehead, demanding money.

When the woman denied having any, the irate gunman pressed the gun to her forehead even harder and then pushed her down.

She fell to the ground, hitting her right foot in the process.

Subsequently, another man rushed into the shop and took the cash register from the counter.

He dropped it on the floor, and when it opened, he removed the cash that was in it.

The duo then made their escape in an easterly direction.

During the incident, a number of shelved items were knocked to the floor.

The matter was reported to the Parham Police Station and several officers were deployed to the scene to conduct investigations.

As usual, a search was carried out in the area; but no one fitting the descriptions was seen.

  2. ARM ROBBERY IN ANTIGUA IS LIKE TAKING CANDY 🍬 FROM A BABY 👶 UNTILL THE AVERAGE BUISNESS OWNER HAVE A RIGHT TO OWN A FIREARM TO DEFEND THEMSELVES IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE! ANTIGUA NEED A SOLDIER OF FORTUNE TO HUNT DOWN AND EXTERMANATE THESE ARM BANDITS.

    • More guns = more shootings, doesn’t take a genius.

Antigua needs more policing, more education and more opportunities for for the young. If these young men were well educated, had money in their pockets and opportunities for betterment, do you think they would be holding up a small family store in the middle of the day with a flare gun?

  3. Why is only poor people getting robbed….because we don’t own a license fire arm…try that withe SERIANS, and CHINESE, and see what happens…NONSENSE

  4. Why legal gun ownership is so difficult in Antigua and Barbuda you may ask? The answer is quite simple me lads read the brief summary – The first thing that we need to do is go all the way back to the introduction of the firearm into Africa, because I think that’s a very important thing as far as how it influences the slave trade. So once upon a time in Europe, there are a series of wars, and this essentially builds up a lot of firearms technology within the continent of Europe. But for the most part, in the 16th and 17th century, these firearms stayed on the European continent.

There’s this notion that the first colonists essentially jumped off the boat and they were all armed with muskets. But that wasn’t the case. Going back to England, firearms were something mostly reserved for the military, royalty and aristocracy. And this kind of rubbed a lot of common folk the wrong way. That changed by the time they got to the first colonies. The British crown, however, was quite apprehensive about giving a bunch of far-flung white colonists firearms. But the white colonists had three major security threats that very much kind of sent them into this existential crisis, which would call them to have firearms. The first one was the Indigenous threat from Native peoples. The second were these internalized threats, from white indentured servants. And [third], there was the larger threat from having Black slaves. And so for these three reasons, the early colonists would actually have to appeal to the crown to get firearms.

Throughout colonial history, there are about 270 slave rebellions. And there had been a precedent for a successful one: the Haitian rebellion, which essentially kicked out the planter class.
And the government’s response to that was to roll out slave laws. And part of those slave laws were meant to ensure that Black people, whether they were enslaved or free, were not able to get firearms. You see throughout time and time again throughout history. These rebellions would occur, and the government would step down hard and fast to further racially stratify the laws.

  5. People can’t just be at peace these days. Trying to earn an honest living and these elements of disaster roaming the streets. Its just so tiring . Totally fed up now.

  6. The police is totally useless at this point. I won’t even waist my time and call them. I have been watching YouTube videos on how they handle these type of crimes in South Africa. The private security business is booming there.
