The 27-year-old, residing in Willikies, was buried up to his chin, while the 44-year-old from Cooks Hill was partially covered up to his thigh.
Fellow employees and independent contractors present at the scene acted swiftly, using their hands fervently to assist the trapped men.
After concerted efforts, they successfully freed the 27-year-old worker, while emergency responders completed the rescue of the 44-year-old.
This incident took place at the intersection of Pigotts and Fitches Creek Drive, as the workers were nearing the completion of their day-long task.
Both individuals were promptly transported to the hospital, where they are being treated for bruises, swelling, and other injuries.
Fortunately, they remain conscious.

Sorry to hear and condolences to the family of Ralston Otto , a great Antiguan sports man. Represented Antigua very well.
APUA Safety is #1 .Invest into trench boxes and so should every contractor building houses with foundations. I have seen death of collapse surfaces , these injuries suffered by these two men can have a lifelong suffering effect of their organs . Thank God they were rescued . Revisit your safety Standards.
Damn right, trench boxes aren’t all that expensive and they save lives.
This is why apua water manager need to make sure these water guys get what they deserve, you’re are having anniversary celebration and workers in the water department haven’t gotten a salary raise in 15 and 20 yrs………….What kind of management and HR department apua has??water is more important than any other utility so make sure to let the workers feel comfortable in their daily doings…………..A next thing, the engineers in apua is using their powers to absorb the most private work an using the same apua water men them during government hours to do their private work…………Shouldn’t the engineers doing apua work and not private?????…..THE WATER MAN THEM WANT THEIR RAISE,MANAGEMENT SAYING THEY DROP THE BALL FOR 15-18 YEARS ,FORGETTING TO GIVE WATER MAN THEM THEIR RAISE…….BUT THE WORKERS WAS PERFORMING THEIR DUTIES FOR ALL THE YEARS EXPECTING THEIR PROMOTION……IST SAD 😔 😟………………SCHOOL CHILDREN SAY ROBIN FIXUP HIS PEOPLE IN HIS CONSTITUENCY BEFOR LEAVING APUA,MA LIE????
Lol and we the people want water, we are paying for x gallons a month while receiving none
SSEE
Drop ball???How can a company like apua not giving the workers raise in so much years and now telling the workers they as the management drop the ball………..So didn’t the management know that daily work were doing, plus didn’t he have regular meetings with the workers so he knew in his mind he had to fix their wages??????This needs an investigation and the manager fired an compensate the workers
When digging lines to repair pipe, trench should be sloped on side or over 4ft deep require shoring, in other words vertical slots of wood with horizontal and perpendicular braces to stop collapse, and if you plan to do sloping the trench material has to be place 4 ft from trench slope where it may increase longitudinal load on side wall forcing collapse on workers, in other words lumber braces are needed to be used at depths over 4ft as OSHA regulations. The APUA must stop creating permanent positions as foreman or supervisor and standardize as in in terms a journey linesman who is then given an responsibility allowance to be supervisor, so they work to earn it always sharpening their skills, and the company is not held hostage by mediocrity, in the vicissitudes of time knowing people age and become less alert and nimble. With standardize training, a rotation of job responsibilities will keep the company functioning more safely and competitive.

Godspeed to a full recovery gentlemen.
We need safety codes in Antigua. I see truck drivers, backhoe and other heavy duty equipment operators working in slippers. I see guys riding motorcycles without helmets and riding in slippers. Workmen on construction site without hard hats and proper footwear, especially on sites manned and managed by local contractors. Even some of the guys working on the roadside not properly attired. Our garbage collection guys riding on the back of the trucks without protective clothes and proper sanitary mask etc. The Unions are still relevant and have much more work to do.
Cya believe me ah say this again inna one year booy. Pw and construction needs more oversight and professional accreditation. Cuz you know dem man nar go see 1c after dem nearly become hobbit.
